Pregnant after a Loss

Maternity 21 test

Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone has gotten the maternity 21 test my OB didn't give me much info on it but what I have heard from other over 35 moms is that if the result is good then not to go ahead w the other invasive tests that have risk of miscarriage. However, my Ob said the opposite (I don't really like her as she acts completely uninterested when I met with her). Has anyone out there had the test? Thoughts? Thanks for the help!! :)

Re: Maternity 21 test

  • My doc and MFM both pushed for an amnio or CVS. I decided just to do the NIPT (AMA and have a chromosomal loss). Our results were low and everything looked good at the a/s. Had there been any indication that something could have been off then we would have went for it. To me, the risks of the invasive tests were just not worth it to me.

  • I had the Panorama done this pregnancy due to history of chromosomal losses and also had an NT scan which is just an ultrasound. I didn't do the additional bloodwork associated with that because I figured that the NT scan and the Panorama test would have raised red flags if there were some at that time.

If red flags were raised at either of these then I would have had a CVS or Amnio for more definite answers but fortunately there weren't. I have had a CVS in a previous pregnancy though due to a terminal diagnosis with my daughter via the NT but didn't have any physical complications from it.
