Prayers please...tomorrow is the big day!

Please pray for DS2 tomorrow, he is having his skull unfused. We report for surgery at noon. He will be away from us up to 8 hours. He will spend 3-5 days in the hospital. I KNOW he will be awesome, and he will do wonderfully but please pray for his strength and for the surgeons. They are operating on one of the most important things in the my whole life. Thank you!

We'll be thinking of you! We spent 5 days in the hospital following DS's open heart surgery, and the doctors and nurses made it as positive of an experience as it could be. We had some fabulous nurses.

My biggest piece of advice for being in the hospital that long would be to try to politely manage his care and speak up when necessary. For example, one night right after DS and I finally had both gone to sleep, a night nurse came in and decided that it would be the perfect time to rearrange all the medications and lines, along with another nurse, very noisily for 30 minutes. It is not something that had to be done right then, at 11:30 pm. After that I learned to talk to the night nurse each night and discuss when they needed to come into the room for vitals, etc., and at what frequency, and we discussed the best way to minimize sleep disruptions unless there was some kind of urgent medical matter.
