Baby Names

Norman

What's your thoughts on the name Norman? It was my grandpas middle name (Virgil was his first and that is out) I think it is strong. Sometimes I feel like it is almost to old for a kid to pull off though. Thoughts?

Re: Norman

  • It's not my style, but it's a good, solid, masculine name. It'd be very refreshing as well!

  • Norman is a nice name. I went to high school with a guy named Norman and he was the coolest guy. I have a good name association with Norman.

  • I know a middle-aged Norman who is a really nice person. I think it would be nice, although I kind of prefer it as a middle name.

    No, I can't sorry.
Just reminds me of a kids TV character and his mother always shouting "Norrrr-mann"

  • Good for a middle name. Otherwise it's just too geeky for me.

  • I'd middle name it. The only one I knew as a child went exclusively by Buddy. It was years before I learned his name was actually Norman.
  • I'd middle name it as well. I actually really like Virgil in the MN spot, but I know that's not everyone's style.

  • I like it, we have a friend with this LN, but everyone calls him Norman so it seems wearable to me.

It doesn't sound too old to me either. DS2 has had Milton, Stanley, Percy, Casper, and Leland in his classes.
