Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone have weight difference between two DR's?

edited October 2014 in Pregnant after a Loss
I went to OB they said I had gained total of 17 lbs! They we're ecstatic because they want me to gain at least 20 by 27. I was like ummm no I weigh myself, I don't think so. They were happy so I just glowed in the praise! Lol...well go to regular dr and they are like well you look healthy but weight gain is off for weeks and your size? I have only gained 10lbs ( which is what I get at home) . Anyone else have this I mean it is a 7 lb difference! Lol. My sis said since sometimes they take two of us gals back at a time they wrote someone else's weight one day..weight is a worry for OB I'm petite and had ds early...

  • Weight can actually vary a lot between one place and another.  I've read that even moving your scale from one spot to another can cause it to give you a different reading.  And of course different scales are calibrated differently so they won't be the same.  I've had my weight be as much as 6lbs different from home to the doctor's office with only about 30minutes in between weighings.

I tracked my own weight until I decided it was bad for my mental health because then I could be sure that it was as close to my "true" weight as possible, as in first thing in the morning after I pee and before I eat or drink anything.

  • Weight can vary (we always use the exact same scale for our eating disorder patients to prevent as much discrepancy as possible), but mistakes do happen. With my last pregnancy they recorded my initial weight as 10 lbs more than it was. I didn't realize the mistake until 3rd tri when they told me I had o my gains 5 lbs up to that point. I had actually gained 15. They never corrected the mistake (I guess you can't go back in time to prove it), but we're ontop of my weight gain for the rest of the pregnancy. I didn't stress out about it because I knew the correct weight.

  • Weight can vary by the time of day, if you have eaten yet, if your bladder is full. Also does one doctor require you to remove your coat, and or shoes? That can affect it.  Every scale is different too. So just watch the OB scale when you go back and see if the number changes and try not to compare to other scales. =)

    ALL WELCOME!

  • I also check mine first thing in the morning after I pee on my home scale once or twice per week. I think it is way more accurate that at my Dr's office where I may or may not have just eaten or peed.

I did notice that early in pregnancy I could weigh 6 lbs more in the evening than in the morning. Bloat is such a wonderful thing.
