Trouble TTC

Possibly silly monitoring question...

Today, being CD 1, marks the beginning of my first treatment cycle. I've got my CD 3 appointment on Thursday, and then I'll be taking Clomid days 5-9. After that, I will go in on CD 12 to start monitoring. I know it varies from person to person (and cycle to cycle), but on average, how many monitoring appointments do you usually have prior to being given the go-ahead to trigger?  I'm just trying to wrap my head around how much time I might need to take off from work in the next few weeks...

I apologize in advance if this is a really dumb question.

Re: Possibly silly monitoring question...

  • It's not a dumb question. I went in on CD 12 (a Friday) for my first US, follies weren't big enough for trigger, so they wanted me to come back the next day. I didn't because it fell on a weekend and ended up doing a OPK, got a positive on CD 13, so really it would have been 2 days in a row, but it really depends I think, and went in for the IUI Monday morning.

  • It's not a dumb question! My first iui I was on clomid and went in twice. The next two iuis I was on letrozole and I only went in once before triggering. It was the same with my first injections cycle which was iui number four. Then this iui that I just did recently was also injections and I had to go in twice. I was surprised by that because the injections cycles were so different. But I guess it just depends on each individual cycle. : )
  • I only had the 2 u/s... cd3 and cd12. I always responded well to the Letrozole so I was ready to trigger on cd12 and would get it there in the office.

  • On oral medication, I went in CD2-4 and then again for the trigger around CD12-13.  I always responded well to the medication so there was no need for anymore ultrasounds.

Now on follistim, I went in 3 times for monitoring and bloodwork.

    *****Everyone is welcome******

  • Thanks, ladies.

CD 12 falls on a Saturday for me which is kind of nice because that's one less day I need to go into work late. I'm actually hoping my follies aren't ready yet that day, though because my H is going to be away that weekend, so it would be nice if we had until at least Monday before he has to drop off his sample. Typically I O around CD 16-18, but I don't know if my follies will be mature earlier than that because of the clomid.
