AW: 1st ultrasound: We have a heartbeat!

We had our first u/s this morning. My husband and I took separate cars, as he was heading to work directly after the appointment. I had been in good spirits but of course was a bundle of nerves. About five minutes away from the office I lost it just started crying and sobbing. I told myself it was the hormones and not an instinct that bad news was coming.
I held my husband's hand so tight as the tech began to speak. The baby was measuring right on track with my ovulation date at 6w1d. We saw a heart rate of 108 and I breathed a sigh if relief. I know they like it to be closer to 120 but the tech said that looked fine to her and that the dr would contact me within a day or so. They will do a follow-up u/a next Friday and I have everything crossed in hopes that the heart rate increases and the little one is measuring on track. But for now I'll relax and tell myself I'm pregnant and my body has two hearts today.

Side note I'm not a poetic person. My heart was racing a mile a minute and after the tech said we had a beat I just thought he/she has one too!

Congratulations! I can certainly understand how you feel, friend. I remember I was very nervous during my first ultrasound, but was excited when I saw my baby’s heartbeat. It’s a very special moment, isn’t it? I’m saying a small prayer for your family, especially for your little one. Keep smiling, enjoy your time and take good care of yourself. Hugs:).
