Hey y'all. I think this may be my first time posting here - I'm a regular over in March 15, almost 19 weeks pregnant.
So I have pelvic girdle pain and it's pretty bad. I have my anatomy scan on Tuesday next week and I'm gonna talk to my OB about it but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you've done about it? It sucks because it hurts when I get up from sitting, hurts when I'm laying in bed, and it really hurts when I change positions sleeping. I ordered a Snoogle from Amazon. Has that helped anyone? I read you can get PT for it so I may go that route. It just kind of scares me because I'm only halfway through my pregnancy and I hate to think of how much worse it could get ![]()
Thanks everyone!
Re: Pelvic girdle pain
Why hello, @kcbizme
Yeah, it's weird. My vagina, inner thighs, hips, and butt all hurt. I of course asked Dr. Google first and it turns out I have all the symptoms of PGP. Something about the ligaments being looser in the pelvis and not being able to hold it rigid so everything stretches. Kind of makes me worried my whole damn pelvis will gave in on itself :-S
There's a certain way you're supposed to walk and you should put a pillow between your legs - that's about all I could gather from the interwebz short of seeing a physical therapist who can manipulate your pelvis to make you feel better. It's supposed to get progressively worse which is why I'm worried about it. For now I'm okay, but when I get up from my chair to do something I waddle for a good 15-20 steps until things settle back to where they're supposed to be. It's embarrassing.
I'm hoping the Snoogle will help me feel more comfortable in bed. I get all achy in my nether regions unless I lay on my side. No fun.
Sounds like you have more pain issues than me, though! Sorry about that! I've always had low back pain due to my enormous boobs. And my shoulders always hurt from the tension I carry, and my knees are a little achy but it's all bearable.
Ah, the magic of pregnancy :P It would be so lovely to be able to soak in a hot jetted tub. Such a shame that it's harmful to the baby.
I would definitely ask your doctor. Are you sure its not some sort or round ligament pain? Im on the March 15 babies too! 15 weeks and counting!
Good luck, and I'm sure everything will be fine!
@rachelcalderon525 - Nah, it's not RLP. I've had that a few times - kind of feels like a tightening of the outer stomach and groin region. What I have is pretty persistent and doesn't go away. When I'm sitting it's fine but when I stand up from sitting everything in my pelvis aches for a few minutes. Same thing happens when I get up from laying down. Hurts to lay on my back but that's fine since I'm a side sleeper. It's okay though, it's not exactly unbearable
Just kind of annoying and mildly embarrassing when I waddle.
I'm hoping my recently purchased Snoogle will help with it. I'm gonna start swimming again soon so I can relieve the pressure off my joints for a while.
