38wks 1 day, light brown spotting?

I just got back from my doctors appointment. I've been dilated to a 2 for the past two weeks, only 50% effaced but last night and twice today I've had bad stomach aches. I also woke up with back pain but I haven't had any "real" contractions yet. After using the bathroom this last time I noticed a light brown color when I wiped. I'm just looking for an opinion as to what that could mean. I haven't noticed losing my mucus plug or anything but then again I've been using the bathroom frequently. Any advice or similar experiences??

Did you notice this after a cervical check? Could be irritation from your check, but it could be something else.

It was about two hours after but after the previous two checks I didn't have any spotting at all. Just curious if this happened to someone else, or if my baby's on his way.

Sometimes I spot after a vaginal/cervical check but not always. My OB said light spotting is normal for a couple of days after a cervical exam. If you get period-like bleeding at any point it's not normal.

Your symptoms are really common in late pregnancy. Your best bet in interpreting what they mean for you is to call your doctor.

It happens sometimes after a cervical check, and not uncommon. If it is ongoing you might want to put a call into your doctor just to be safe.
