I don't know! I've never done a poll before! Maybe someone smarter will come along...

  • Me too! I wanna see results :( I don't think you can edit a poll. Lame sauce.

  • I was induced with potocin and a foley bulb and it was successful. I was only a "loose" one when I got the potocin at 5:30am and was almost 2 when the Foley bulb was placed at a 9:30am. By noon I was close to 4cm and the Foley bulb came out. It took until that evening to go from 4 to 6. But only 45 mins or so to go for 6 to 9 cm.

  • I'm curious too! I have a feeling mines going to hold out until the induction date on Friday.
  • For those who are curious, the current vote is 1 yes, 9 no.

Now it's 4 yes, 15 no. My induction ended in a c-section due to suspected cord issues.

  • 7 votes for yes and 17 for no.

I would like to add that the only reason mine turned into a c-section was that he wouldn't fit in the birth canal. I would have had a c-section even if I had gone into labor on my own. I was also induced with my first and delivered her vaginally (she had a smaller head and shoulders).
  • I would think it depends on why you were induced, no?

I was induced because of elevated heart rates in both of us and I had a really high fever. If the induction hadnt worked then I was going to have a csection. I was told to be prepared for a CS just in case.

I went in for an induction with DD. I was not dilated at all. I had a 44 hour labor that turned c-section. Everyone reacts differently to it, but be prepared for anything!

  • Induction cord wrapped and baby stuck

    Ended in C
  • 15 - yes
    33 - no

For those who were induced leading to a c/s, I'd be willing to guess they didn't have favorable Bishop scores for induction anyway.

I'm not even sure. I was 41.5 weeks and zero progression

But like I said his cord was double wrapped and stuck, he wasn't coming out that way long run any way
  • Great poll.  I was trying to tell my H how an induction could turn into a CS possibly.  He has asked if I could still have a natural birth if we end up being induced this weekend.

  • My water broke with DD after the membrane sweep and then I ended up with pitocin because productive contractions never started after several hours. Does this count as an induction?

  • Great poll! We have an induction set for 10/15 @ 39 weeks due to high blood pressure. First cervical check tomorrow so hopefully something is happening on it's own...

  • There should be an "SS" or an "almost" option. Ours almost ended in a C-section. I pushed for a few hours, almost 3 with no success and was given one more push or an O-room was waiting for us. Luckily that last push did it.

I was induced all 4 times because my kids don't want to be born. I went past my EDD with the first 3. No c-sections.

  • Also, OP, do you mean an induction prior to 40 weeks or after 40 weeks? I assume by your siggy you are talking about after 40 weeks...

I voted yes because with my first it was an induction that ended in a CS however the other 3 kids were all planned RCS.

My sister was induced with both her kids and had vaginal deliveries.

  • Your ob should have his/her statistics for this, as well as those for the hospital. Compare these to the % of natural labors that end in c-section.

My MFM was able to provide all these stats today, and for him, inductions end in CS about 10% more often than when labor began naturally.

ETA, I was induced with cervadil, and later something else (maybe pitocin?) and was an hour away from a CS due to lack of progress. They checked me at 4pm, gave me until 5 to get to 5 cm's, and at 4:45pm I got there, so it worked out in the end.

DS#1 I was dilated to 1.5 cm when they induced me because of rising BP. Born 13 hrs later after 1.5 hrs of pushing.

DS#2 My water broke, but after 12 hrs I still wasn't getting any contractions so they started pitocin. He was born 4.5 hrs later after only 1 push.

DS#3 did not need an induction.

I was induced with Pitocin at 40w 3d with DS1. I was 4cm the morning of induction. They broke my water when I was checked, then started the drip. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have gone for any of that, but everything did go well. Labor was VERY intense with almost no breaks between contractions. I managed to make it through without any meds, and after 8 hours of labor and 15 minutes of pushing had my sweet baby boy.

  • Still 29 Y, 64 N. I was induced at 41 weeks by my own choice. Cervadil (Th overnight) did NOTHING, pitocin the next day (Fri) literally did nothing, Foley bulb Fri PM did something, Pitocin Sat finally started helping me progress, water broke on its own Sat PM, hit a 10 around midnight and pushed for several hours but baby didn't budge. Epi wore off, baby needed me to be on oxygen... Finally had a CS and DS was born Sun AM at 9:47. Worst experience ever and we were in the hospital for 62 hours before baby was even born. Due in 3 weeks with DD#1, hoping for a VBAC but need body to start labor on it's own. Happy thoughts/prayers appreciated :)
  • *if I could do it gain, I would have waited for my body to go on it's own, but then again who could have known Pitocin would be ineffective? Haven't heard of the before myself, but now I've herd of plenty of others as well.
