Hi Ladies,
First off, congrats to all you who have had your next little one arrive! With my own bun in the oven, I have started planning things way in advance (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and DS birthday). My DD is due Feb 2, so I will probably do something for DS a little earlier in January, since I'll be almost 39 weeks along when his birthday arrives on Jan 22 (if little sister waits that long).
Since we have winter babies, I'm having trouble thinking of fun and inexpensive indoor locations to have a party. I looked around at the toddler gyms, indoor bounce house locations, indoor playgrounds, etc near me, and all the party packages are $200-$300, plus food and cake costs. I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a party when he is so little, but I don't think I want to try to host an indoor party in my living room with 10+ toddlers. We do go to the toddler gym (The Little Gym) nearby, so we met a group of moms and kids that we have had play dates with all together when the kids were younger. So I feel if I invite some I'd have to invite the whole group, which drives the numbers up quickly. I was thinking of maybe just inviting a few kids that we see most often (around 3-4) for a small party play date, and then just doing a family celebration.
Do you all have any suggestions for a fun, inexpensive party for a 2 year old?
Re: 2nd Birthday Plans
My friend just threw a great party at a dance studio. They turned on music and the girl from the studio (required to be there as part of the site rental), led the kids in a few simple activities like spin in a circle, jump, wave your banner, etc. Cake and fruit was in the cafe area, and the whole thing was only 1.5 hours, hour dancing and 30 mins for cake, but the kids were worn out afterwards.
