TTC after 35

Maybe this will make someone feel more hopeful? (BFP--not mine--mentioned)

Because it's not doing anything like that for me.

Apparently my office neighbor is pregnant at 46--she may actually have turned 47--and I have to admit that while I'm kind of impressed, I'm not the eensiest, teensiest, weensiest, most microscopic bit happy for her.

Sad, jealous, and half-tempted to close my office door and cry are more where I am.

But this is exacerbated by the fact that, although we get along OK, she's definitely not on my "All-Time Favorite People" list.  For those of you who don't know either of us, though, and are nicer than I am to start with--yay, it can be done?  I'm pretty sure, for several reasons, that there wasn't any kind of fertility treatment involved either...

Not sure what the right emoji for this one is: ^:)^ ?  >:P ?  %-( ?  :(( ? Maybe the default:  :|

Not quite as impressive in the biological sense, but more of an ouch factor in other ways!  Hearing that must get old, all right. :)

  • @Davie813 Yeah, that's pretty much how I'd be feeling too. On CD2 I was sitting down being totally bummed about my BFN when I get a message that my cousin and his new wife (my age) are apparently expecting a baby now. I wrote back "exciting!!" but wow was I ever not excited. I mean, I'm happy for them on some level obviously, but...well, just impatient and sad for myself I guess.

    Hugs to you.

  • Ugh. Sorry.  Time to cut out early? It's 5 o'clock somewhere.

I recently learned the same info about someone (who is only 30 or so) I find particularly witchy and I understand the feeling.

  • Yep, that's how I feel too. It seems like everyone I work with is either pg, or has recently had a baby... Or maybe I just notice it more now that in TTC. Sux all around

    Sorry @Davie813‌

  • Since I work in a hospital, there are about 250 women who work in our unit.  To keep track of all the pregnancies, we have a "Baby Train" in our break room.  Basically each pregnant mama gets a train car along the top of the room.  Since I've been trying that damn thing just keeps getting LONGER AND LONGER AND LONGER!  Seriously!?

While I can appreciate the "hopefulness" of a 46-47 year old getting pregnant, I'm sorry you're dealing with this, especially since she's not your fave.

To be fair, they are in fact mostly quite nice.  But I think I actually have grumbled about this one (the Office Gossip) in a non-TTC-related thread on here back in the day...  If it were someone else, I really do think I'd be encouraged by her pregnancy.  Since it's not, I really do hope someone else might be. :)

  • @Davie813 - sorry and hugs.  I can relate as well.  We have a youngish couple (well to me they're young) and hippie-dippie-ish (she is, he's just goofy) that come in, he's a patient.  She comes to every appt with him, and decided to start knitting because they're getting ready to start trying for a baby.  Following month they come in - she's knocked up.  I can't be happy for them what-so-ever, because she annoys me too much...

  • @Davie813‌ we all need a group hug. I work in a nursing home so there's plenty of females working here. This morning I wasn't too happy. I'm extremely mad at DH. We bd on Sat., but I had a feeling I would o on Sunday or Monday. So both of those days I attempted to bd with DH, he denied me both days. Then last nite he wants to come sniffing around trying to bd. I flat out told him NO, and I told him he's always interested when I'm not fertile . It seams like every few cycles I have to tell him there about 2-3 fertile days each cycle. So even though Saturday is still a decent timing day I wanted to better my chances. This morning a very pg coworker who has also suffered with SIF like myself is pg with twins. She's younger than me and I can't help but to be extremely envious and jealous. She worked on my unit with me for an hour or so. Shortly after that two more very pg coworkers came into my unit. I feel like I'm being tortured with the pg ladies. I can't escape the madness. I just wanna go into the bathroom and cry, not that that would change the way I feel, this blows
  • That totally blows, @C_Girlie. I wish I had some advice or better words of encouragement, but hang in there and at least you got some good BDing done! Big hugs to you.

  • His approach is all messed up. He's acting like I'm 30 and I have plenty of time on my side. He keeps saying "it will happen when the time is right don't stress it". Damnit I'm stressing I'm 38 & my eggs aren't getting any better. He makes excuses left and right. In the past it was we don't have the finances. Now it's were buying our first house and I can't have you out of work. So today I flat out asked him "so does this mean no to having another baby"? His response "we will have plenty of time to bone". My response "I'm trying to bone to create a human". I don't want to turn him off by talking about this all the time, but I need more clarity
  • Ugh, I'm sorry. If it helps at all (which it probably doesn't) 38 seems young in my book! It's not so dire. :)

Still, I'm sorry your DH is being frustrating. I hope you guys can figure out what his reservations are and get it together! >:D<
