Baby Gate w/ Pet Door?

So I think the Little Dude will be mobile soon… He is starting to do the butt in the air inchworm thing.  It is totally adorable, but at the same time makes me think I need to get on the baby proofing soon.  I need a baby gate that is wide enough to fit the entrance to my great room, but still has a pet door for my elderly (he would bite me if he knew I called him that) cat.  All of the gates I find with the little door say they are pet gates, not for babies.  But the reviews say they have been used for babies. Has anyone used one of these in the past?  I feel like I am overthinking this… Am I?

This is the only one I have found that will fit my entryway, has a door for us, and a small door:

Wouldn't LO be able to fit through the cat door?
We have a dreambaby gate (no pet door) in our kitchen. you can buy several different extensions for it to make it fit large opening, we have 2 extensions to fit our roughly 5' opening

  • lica001 -Thank you.  I had though about him getting thorough the pet door.  I think initially it would be more of something to slow him down while I got over there to redirect him.

  • You might be able to mount one up off the ground high enough for kitty to slip under, but low enough baby won't fit.

  • Thanks everyone for the ideas!  I'll have to look over the options with the hubby...and then ask the cats what they think.

This is our plan.  We already have it set up so the dog can't get into the room with the cat boxes, and the cats can slip underneath.  I actually tried sliding the baby underneath to see if she would fit (yeah, I felt kind of weird doing it, but she thought it was a blast), and she baaaarely could slide through on her back, so I'm hoping by the time she's actually crawling, she won't be able to or it will at least be really hard for her to.
