Success after IF

Well that wasn't very reassuring...

So I am slowly but surely getting my stuff organized to attempt IVF again in Feb. Got some swabs and a pap this am. Called the pharmacist and left a message to find out what dose of DHEA they want me on. Worked on figuring out if I can get a sis locally or if I have to drive 5h and do it at our RE....then I called our old clinic to find out about shipping our sperm across the country as the clinic here told us to contact them to organize it. The clinic there said they won't send their tanks that far so I have to get the clinic here to do it. And then the cheery sperm lab tech said in a cheery voice oh, btw keep in mind the sperm is only going to stay frozen for 2-3d so it might not make it without thawing. I am feeling so tired of the stress and the difficulty. I wish I could just get ko'd the old fashioned way.

Re: Well that wasn't very reassuring...

  • Yeah, why can't they get it to you in <3 days. Wth? Sorry kaf, you deserve better.

I'm sorry that you're going through this.  It's kind of hard to believe in this day and age that they can't get it to you in less than 3 days!  Hope it all works out!!

ETA:  I also love when they are all so cheery to you, like they're giving you some great news or something!!

  • I also would hope they can get it here in less than 72h. I also think the tech had no sweet clue how priority shipping works. Major centre to major centre should be doable in 48h or less I'd say. But her lack of confidence did not inspire confidence in me. Nor did the concept that they aren't willing to ship their tank that far. What if no one is? She was suggesting I might have to hire a private company to ship it. I am just nervous because I have finally committed to trying this again and now our precious few sperm that took us over a year to get are in jeopardy again, or at least that's what it feels like. Ugh. Thanks for the support.
  • @kaf7 - I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I 100% can relate to your comment about just wanting to get pregnant from a roll in the hay. As we start trying for number 2 - this is something I've had a really really hard time with.....things were so different for me mentally the first time around. I wanted a baby and would do anything to get one. This time I'm getting hung up on the why me card....it's not easy! Hope you get this figured out!

I'm also sorry @kaf7. I am also struggling with 'why me' and everything involved in an IVF cycle. I also wonder what it would be like conceiving a baby in my bedroom without having to shell out five figures, ingesting a boatload of hormones and having to plan months in advance.

  • Boo on them. I call crap on the shipping thing. My BIL had to ship meds that needed to be refridgerated overnight to FIL and they did it no problem. And that was from Canada to the states. Hope you work things out!

  • I called back today to speak to the more experienced tech. They still don't want us using their tank and want me to see if our current RE will send them a tank. It would be fedex air shipping so it should be fine. I think the first tech thought we lived on another planet. I am still worried about it though. We have to pay for the tank to go too and from the two sites plus about $600 in fees outside of that on the old REs end of things. Thanks for all the well wishes and the encouragement to dig deeper into the situation.
