I guess I'll try drinking more water. I have been avoiding it because I am out on the road all day and I'm already running to pee about every 45 minutes (day and night). Really haven't had a whole lot of symptoms with this pregnancy but the ones I've had have been quite irritating.
Water helps...and caffeine. But we are not supposed to have a ton of it. My doc gave me a script for esgic. It is Tylenol, caffeine and a muscle relaxer. It really has helped my headaches and given me a little boost of energy.
I had them constantly. I spoke with my dr about it at my 12 wk appt. He told me to drink twice as much water and prescribed me fioricet. Try speaking with your doc if they get worse and none of the home remidies work....
Drink lots and lots of water. The thing that helps me is a cool cloth on my forehead and a temple massage. I had some bad headaches around week 12 that I think was from increased blood flow and hormones. I never took anything though.
The NP I saw said you can take ibuprofen in the second trimester. Its not recommended during 1st and 3rd trimester. One dose shouldn't hurt baby. Ask OBGYN to confirm.
If you've had a severe headache that long you may want to contact your OB. I suffer from chronic migraines and during my pregnancy was prescribed fioricet for the absolute worst headaches. Also water intake is important for you and your baby. In my opinion health comes before the annoying urge to pee, which by the way will be getting much more frequent.
Drinking more water does seem to be helping. The dr. gave me a script for fioricet and that did nothing so hopefully the water will keep them manageable. I may try the magnesium thing too. Thanks for the tips all.
I agree with the water and magnesium. As well as the essential oils, such as peppermint. Also, headaches can be a sign of blood sugar imbalance, so pay attention to what you are eating & when. Be sure you are getting steady supply of healthy foods. As for Tylenol, its use during pregnancy has recently been linked to higher incidence of ADHD in children. I'd avoid it if possible.
Re: tylenol sucks
I'm a Dork. I Can't Wait for Dumb and Dumber To!
One thing that helps me when I get them is giving myself a brain freeze. I don't know why it helps, but it takes the edge off of the pain.
