EH-vee or EE-vee? With the full name Evelyn, it seems obvious to me that it would be EH-vee (same EH sound as in Evelyn), but after running it by a few people, it seems it's not so obvious ...
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
I had an Aunt Evelyn whose nn was pronounced eh-vee. But if I just saw Evie spelled with no context for the person's full name, I'd assume it was ee-vee.
Ee-vee as a stand alone name, no question. I'd say ee-vee as a nn for Evelyn, too. A nn eh-vie as a family pet name is fine, I suppose. However, if someone introduced themselves as eh-vie in a professional setting I'd just think they were trying to be a little special and move on. In print, it is ee-vee every time.

With no context, it's EE-vee. You could go around correcting people, but that's going to get old. If it's going to bother you, I would not use this nn.

I find it really interesting so many people are saying EE-vee. I had a great aunt Evelyn who went her whole life by Evie, pronounced EH-vee. I guess that is why it is not at all weird to me. I honestly didn't think anyone in this thread would have said EE-vee. Interesting...

I've never heard of Ee-vie at all. I pronounce it Eh-vie and had a friend named Evelyn who ALWAYS went by Eh-vie. I'm Canadian if that matters- maybe it's different here? Haha
I thought duh of course Eh-vie even tho I didn't immedietly think Evelyn. The responses here were so surprising to me! and @FFwifey I'm Canadian too but the Evelyn nn Evie I know is from the south.
I usually say Ee-vee but I did know a girl when I was younger that pronounced it Ev-ee (not sure if her name was actually Evie, it might have been Evelyn). I wouldn't be bothered by either pronunciation.
DD is Evangeline, nn Evie (Eevee). I think the nn Evie for Evelyn should be pronunced Eh-vie although I have a friend with an Evelyn who calls her daughter Evie with the same pronunciation as mine.

Eh-vie as a nickname for Evelyn. This seems natural to me. I would spell it Evy though... I have a friend named Evelyn that goes by Evy and this is how she spells it and it seems really straight forward.
As a stand alone first name, or short for a name with a long E like Evangeline then I would say Ee-vee. It's one of those you will get both pronounciations and correct one time. Not a big deal.
Re: How do you pronounce Evie?
It's my daughters nickname which we planned on using. We actually spell it Eevee too, but that's due to personal family reasons.
Mommy loves you Eevee!

I have a childhood friend who uses the nickname Evi, which she pronounced Ehv-ee. But that's from a Greek name which has that syllable in it.
