February 2014 Moms

Question for cold weather mamas!

Everyone else is welcome to read and comment as well!

Are you buying your LO a snowsuit or a fleece outerwear suit? Thanks to the drop in temp, I am trying to figure out if it would get used this year? I do not really anticipate snowball fights or anything, but I could see DH wanting to sled with him a few times. Do you plan to just bundle them up? Buy a special snow suit? LO is not crawling yet, so I doubt we will be running around by Feb, though he could surprise me!

Re: Question for cold weather mamas!

  • We have a snowsuit for playing outside purposes. I got it on clearance over the summer. LO is crawling, and I anticipate we'll be taking him outside to play in the snow. We'll also use it if we'll be outside for any amount of time: walk, Christmas festivals, etc.

It's two pieces. I would have gotten a one piece if available.

  • Fleece bunting here - with layers, hat, etc its what worked for LO1.  I mean, I don't intend to go out for 3hr walk in subzero temps, but for playing outside with LO1 it'll work.

  • We have 'snowpants' and a winter coat, both purchased secondhand separately. We'll use those if we get enough snow to play in. Otherwise, I have a fleece suit, and a sweater-type suit. I don't anticipate having a ton of super cold days, or going many places on those few cold days. (But I am in a warmer area, too)

  • We have a fleece bunting and a snow suit. If he were an only, I'd be perfectly fine with him staying out of the snow, but DS1 will be in the snow lots, so we'll let DS2 play out there, too.

That being said, we bought his Gap snowsuit on a yard sale site for $5, so there's that.

  • We have a bunting and a snow suit. The bunting isn't going to last the whole winter, she will outgrow it. The snow suit is for sledding and walks outside.

  • We bought that Cabela's bunting @JoyBaby5‌ posted after she posted it the other day (thanks for that by the way, I love it!) It will be perfect for the stroller and is thin enough for the car seat. For DS, all he had was a fleece one and it was fine. Since DD has her big brother to play with, we will be out playing in the snow and up in the mountains, so DD will need an actual snow suit, too.

  • Yes, we have a snowsuit. My 3.5 year old LOVES snow! We'll be spending time outside this winter.
  • I have snow pants and a standard winter jacket however I purchased a bunch of inner wear stuff like long sleep onesies, woolen tights, thermal t'shirts. I plan to layer him so that if it gets hot we can remove a layer. I will however plan to invest in a bunting suit if it gets really cold. I will play by ear on that one.
