Face rash from teething drool

Ok so DS has this awful rash from the drool. I try to keep up on the aquaphor but is there anything else you mamas have been using that's even better? I keep a bib on him at all times and try to wipe his face as much as possible so it doesn't sit on it.

Re: Face rash from teething drool

  • Do you charge the bib regularly to ensure he doesn't have anything damp rubbing on him?

  • A little bit if hydrocortisone 1% worked beautifully to clear it up for DD. I think we used it 1x/day for two days? Then back to just aquaphor or aveeno lotion.

Also, we go through maybe 5 bibs/day because there is just.that.much drool.

I hand DS a paper towel to chew on when he's drooling/teething a lot and he basically cleans his face by himself.

Doesn't he end up swallowing paper? DS sticks everything in his mouth. He stuck some of that crinkle paper from the pedi office that lies on the exam table, since he drools on it, he can easily rip it and swallow it.

OP, my pedi recommended Aquaphor as well, but I use a touch of J & J Lotion like @Chevygrrl91, and it works great.

Yeah I wouldn't let him suck on a paper towel in case of him swallowing it. I don't think that's a good idea.

I will have to try the hydrocortisone and he's so sensitive to lotion we don't use any on his face he breaks out everywhere!
  • I bought Aveeno Baby eczema therapy 2 days ago and my LO redness is almost all gone.
  • Honestly, I just use my chapstick. Every time I use it throughout the day I lean over and rub it across DS's chin too. Makes a good enough barrier that he gets rid of his little rash from all the drool.

  • We were told to use aquaphor too. But it's not cutting it! And I'm constantly wiping his face cause drool is nasty.
