Tummy time / play time question

Just wondering when you guys do tummy/play time? We try to follow eat-play-sleep, but it ends up being a very messy tummy time because she's full so she spits up a lot, even if we just play and don't do tummy she still spits up with any type of movement after a feeding. and if I hold her upright on me after a feeding she goes to sleep. How do you guys do it if your baby is a spitter? Thanks.

Re: Tummy time / play time question

  • My baby is a "happy spitter" so I try to do tummy time after she wakes up and before she eats. (If she wakes up screaming/hungry, I skip it obviously.)

Several times a day for about 5-10 min each time. About 60 min total a day sometimes more, I'll leave her down there as long as she's happy about it.
  • We follow eat play sleep and I wait about a 1/2 after she eats to do tummy time otherwise she spits up a lot. I try to do tummy time during each cycle of eat-play-sleep and it depends on her for how long. I usually stop when she gets really upset or if she just lays her head down. I'd say it's probably 5-10 minutes each session.

  • My kid also has a weak tummy, and we try not to move him much got at least 15-20 minutes after feeding.

Recently I tried using the boppy for tummy time, propping his chest and shoulders on the rounded portion, with his biddy between the two ends. He seem less upset about it that way.

Some days, 2-3 times. Other days, not at all. Mother of the year right here...
  • jrinehart0 with tummy time.  We do it a few times a week when I remember.  We really only can do it on weekends now with me back at work...in the evenings he eats and eats from me, then will "talk" a bit and then wants to nap.  The time is so precious then that I don't want to upset him with tummy time spitup incidents.  He seems to have good head control and his pedi wasn't too worried.

We have less than 5 minutes of traditional tummy time a day because my kid flips the fuck out when on his stomach. He will lay on our shoulders on his stomach while we recline back. He has good head control and no flat spots on his head so I'm not worried.
This is us exactly. Spencer HATES traditional tummy time too.
