Rocking chair/glider?

Hi ladies! I'm considering getting a rocker or glider and was wondering if anyone had recommendations. Is it practical to think I could use it while tandem breastfeeding? I was specifically looking at the chair and a half or double wide versions thinking that would work best but they seem to be quite an investment so wanted some feedback first. TIA!

Re: Rocking chair/glider?

  • We have a fully upholstered glider that has a lever to extend the footrest. We got it when I had my singleton. I really like it, but used it most for rocking and reading books later on.

I never liked nursing in it, so I never tried to tandem in it but I don't think the MBF pillow would fit. Anyway, I preferred to tandem in my bed.

  • Yeah, I think I should have bought a love seat for their room instead of a glider. It isn't big enough to tandem feed and you need somewhere to lay them as you get setup and finish. It's pretty but not practical, for us anyway. That and I don't plan on rocking all too often. That seems like a box I don't want to open. I just need to break the news to DH that I need yet another new piece of furniture...

  • I purchased a rocker/glider (leather upholstered) from Target that was on-sale for their room. With my first, I fed her mostly sitting on the couch. We had a wooden glider with cushions with her but it would hurt your butt after sitting for awhile so I vowed never to get another one. We have an oversized lazy boy swivel rocker in the living room that I could use to tandem if breastfeeding works out this time (I supplemented with my first due to low supply and we had nipple confusion so I just pumped and she was bottle fed).
  • I have a glider and I love it! But I never tandem fed in it. My boys are too big to tandem now but I always preferred tandem feeding on my bed with the Brest friend pillow. I also would solo feed in the middle of the night so the glider was perfect for that. I don't even know how I would tandem in the glider if i didn't have someone bringing me the babies every time, and I just didn't always have that help. It was nice to be able to lay them on the bed, get set up with the pillow and then pick them up and latch them.

  • I have an upholstered rocker/swivel/recliner from BBB. It is "Best" Brand. I love it. I used the 20% coupon on it and got it for around $400. I slept in it for the last months of pregnancy and lived in it for the first few weeks of the girls' lives. I never did tandem BF in it but I snuggle, rock and read to both of them (now 7 mo) comfortably. I love it!

  • I bottle fed but we have a loveseat in their room. It's been great for nights when I've slept with one on my chest in their bedroom. I could easily put them back in their crib without much effort.
