What is everyone reading right now?

The board is slow....so what are you reading? Is it good? Would you recommend it?

I just finished 50 Shades of Grey yesterday and I am 1/3 of the way through the 2nd book Fifty Shades Darker. I waited a long time to decide whether or not I would jump on the wagon and read the books....looks like I finally did.

P.S. I would love to have found a Christian Grey in my early 20's minus the extreme bondage crap.

  • See, I edit that kind of writing for a living, so I just have no interest in reading it for fun.

I've just started a vampire romance by Kerrelyn Sparks, but I'm not far enough in to know if it's good yet.

This is my very first time reading anything like it so it's completely foreign to me. I read 50 Shades in less then a full day but now that the workweek is here, I can't read as often so the 2nd book will take me a little longer.

  • Magazines at the moment. :-) I have samples of a bunch of books on my Nook - Gone Girl, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, Love Life (Rob Lowe), The Goldfinch - but I haven't started most of them. Maybe I will this week.

  • Currently I'm reading a book called "Bottled Up" which is about supporting infant feeding choice. I also just downloaded "The Five Love Languages" and "The Case for Christ" on my Kindle. I've been wanting to read them both for a long time, so I used some of my birthday money to buy them. I'm loving how easy it is with the Kindle! Just wish I had more time to read.

  • I am currently not reading anything and am sad about it. I feel like the last few books I picked weren't too good or I couldn't get into it, so I need to read something super good.
  • @uncaripswife‌ isn't quiverfull what the Diggers are? I seem to remember someone saying it was a religious sect?

  • That's what I thought. I'm all for accepting all the children Good gives me, but I also feel that God won't give you more than you can handle. At least, I hope that's true. I think I'd lose my mind if I had another soon.

  • Had anyone read Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn? I'm debating buying it. I liked Gone Girl so I thought I might try her other books.

Yes, I read it right after Gone Girl. I liked it, maybe only slightly less than a Gone Girl. It kept my attention and was a good read. I'm debating her other book but I think I need something uplifting and beachy now!!

  • Ok I just finished Fifty Shades Darker-- at work, when I am supposed to be working. Anyone read the 3rd? I am not sure whether I like the books or if I just want to know what happens...

  • I've been told it's only mediocre. But I haven't read them.

  • I'm reading Appetite For Life by Noel Riley Fitch. It's a Julia Child bio. It's good if you are into bios or Julia or if you are a Francophile like Julia was. I'm into bios and I like it.

  • @draeray‌ the third book is the closest to a story line that all three books will ever get to ;). Right now I am finishing up Allegiant for the second time. Onto a JR Ward book next. It's her latest, called Immortal.

  • @rosebean, good to know. I am just over halfway through the 3rd book. I find a lot of her writing is very very repetitive and it's starting to annoy me. There are different ways to describe things and I wish she would use a thesaurus.

And, I love the Divergent series although I hated how Allegiant ended. So many things that she could have done with it and it left me feeling a little depressed.
