Cystic acne and facials

Anyone had a pregnancy facial done? I have horrible cystic acne that's really painful so I'm considering. Any cosmetologists or estheticians in here with insight? Or maybe someone who has had one? Curious if it's worth the money or if the hormonal acne just has to be lived through since the problem is obviously on the inside (hormones)

Re: Cystic acne and facials

  • I have had several, I love facials! My acne is all on my chin of course and I can't get rid of it on my own. I will say getting a facial (I do organic only) did help, but you have to keep up with it. I can't deal with this for another 5 months so I am trying everything to make it better. I am debating going to a dermatologist but I don't know if there is a lot they can do. I will say if you don't plan to keep up with the facials or buy some products it's not worth it. Though it is great to pamper yourself and enjoy some time to relax!

  • It worked for me. ULTA has these $20 20 minute facials, so I go every other week. My skin had gotten really nice (even had the glow) until I got sick. Not it's just all blotchy.
  • I plan on keeping up with them if
They are worth it because my acne is painful and I don't like to wear a lot of makeup...and right now I have to :-/ so I'm glad to hear as long as I keep up with them they will be beneficial!
  • Has anyone tried skinceutical products?
  • Ive gotten three facials using Murad products now and my skin is clear. I am going to continue through my pregnancy and probably after.
  • I got a acne recovery facial a couple weeks ago it helped a lot and my face is finally clearing up. At $120 idk I will be going again but the one was worth it.
  • Omg thanks for this post and the suggestions. This acne and the ensuing dark spots that are leftover afterward are driving me nuts!
  • I know I will probably be ridiculed for this, but it has worked for me:

Magic of the Moon Spell No. 1 (Magic Moon Water)

Leave a jug of spring water out in the light of the Full Moon. This water is excellent for washing your face to impart beauty and purity and can also be used to energetically cleanse crystals and imbue them with the magic of the Full Moon.

  • You will most likely need to get one serious facial, where your esti goes in and clears out what she can, and then do maintenance ones from there but you need to change your at home routine. A lot of spas offer a discount for first time guests, go read reviews or get a recommendation from friends and go to a good place. What products work for some people don't work for others. Your esti will look at your skin and make recommendations. Good skin products aren't cheap, neither are good facials. (Those cheap ones literally cleanse, tone, and moisturize, something you can do at home) a good facial will have extractions and masques that are unique to skin therapists, not just products you can buy yourself.

But really buy the products, change your routine, and it will make a huge difference. I personally use products from at least 7 different lines, a good esti will know her shit and point you in the right directions.

I did buy the products and that was exactly what my esthi told me! It was incredible. Apparently my face was super red and irritated becauE I was using too much stuff on it. After that facial and just one day my face is on the mend thank goodness! Thanks to all you ladies for your posts! I recommend facials for pregnancy acne definitely!
  • I seriously needed this info so badly! My skin is so bad right now that my very concerned little 1st grade cousin said "what happened to your face??"...in front of the whole family last night. It was traumatic.
  • Oh! I'm an esthetician and most of the info on here is great (not so sure about the moon water ...
