The dishwasher thread reminded me that I've been wanting to ask about this.

I use pyrex for food storage. The lids to these, along with my silicone spatulas, seem to have absorbed detergent during the dishwashing phase. I can taste soap if I lick the spatula and even more worrisome - my lactation cookies seem to leach a hint of soap if I store them in the pyrex. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of this? Or, if I break down and buy replacements, how do I avoid the detergent soaking in again?

Try a different brand... I taste soap when we use the Kirkland detergent and we can't use that one anymore.

thanks for all the suggestions. I've been using those pods so the amount can't be adjusted. I may need to switch back to something I can regulate a bit.

@QOTR‌ Have you tried descaling your dishwasher and checking the lines to be sure it's getting enough water? And be sure you're not overloading the washer or obstructing the wash arms. If they can't spin and water can't get to every dish, you'll have soap residue. Also be sure to keep your Jet Dry reservoir full.

In the meantime you can remove the soap smell from your Pyrex and spatulas by soaking them in hot water and plain white vinegar for a few hours. Then rinse well and air dry overnight.
