Re: do you use mesh bumpers

  • No bumpers at this point. We did use mesh with my older DS but DD hasn't needed them yet.

  • We don't use them. Granted we did just start using our crib once we moved into our new house 2 weeks ago. We used a pnp before. She Has been fine in the crib.

  • So far no issues with nothing on the rails. She's been in the crib for about 3 months now. Em is a climber and I can see where anything in the crib would be used as a launching pad!

  • We are in the midst of a move right now so he's bunking in his pack n play but I have purchased them and intend to install them ASAP when we get into a home with his crib. I found him legs-out in his crib one time, face down, and it scared me.

My lo tries to use it as a launching pad but it just smooches down when stepping on it.
Yeah, if M even sticks his arm over it squashes down until he removes it. I'm not concerned about him using them to climb at all.

  • I have it- in the bag sitting right next to the crib. I keep meaning to put it in the crib, but I don't. She has stuck her legs through a few times but it isn't all the time so I'm never sure if I really need to. She is usually waking up and crying so I'm getting her anyway to nurse. It isn't like she just sticks a leg through while sleeping so I haven't been too concerned. But she also isn't climbing yet-at least not in crib.

  • We don't use anything. DD has gotten her leg stuck in the slats once, and has had no issue since then (she's been in the crib since 3 months or so)
  • We have them on. DD somehow would always end up with a limb or two stuck between slats. She'd get stuck, wake up, flip out, and then wouldn't go back to sleep. So... mesh bumpers are a must for us.

I use it more for a pacifier barrier than anything. Keeps them in the crib for her to grab.

This exactly. I had padded pumped until he started to roll. Went a few days without anything and it was horrible. He threw a fit every time he lost his pacifier in the middle of the night. That's the only reason we have it really.

  • We have them on but they don't really serve a purpose anymore. She just squishes them down or put her arm over them.
  • I had to put mesh bumpers on around 6 months. A few nights she got one or both legs stuck and I was up helping her get unstuck (6x was the worst night.) I went out and bought them the next day. No problems since!

  • No, but probably because I am a pretty cheap and lazy parent.

  • No, DS has gotten his arms and legs stuck a few times, but only while trying to fall asleep initially. We watch on the monitor and help him when he needs it.
  • We had the mesh bumper in DS crib for almost 4 months I think, since he started to be a rollie pollie at night and got his leg stuck a few times. Now it's nice cause it also holds his paci's in and he's a crazy rollie pollie and bangs his head on the sides and corners etc. The bumper is nice so he doesn't bang his head to where he wakes up all the time. He's a crazy sleeper
  • i voted 'no' on the bumpers but we just recently had to put on a teething rail cover on since DS has been waking up and chomping on the crib. Methinks paint is not so good for baby, no?

  • I picked SS because yes, we have used them, but they are coming out soon because he just pulls them off now.

We don't have them. DD sometimes put her feet through, but hasn't gotten stuck and can move around just fine. If she starts to get stuck in the slats, we will buy some.

  • We have them.  I like them because her crib is in our room, pretty much right next to my side of the bed.  I feel like it helps her to not see me if I wake up and turn over in bed, so I don't wake her up.

    No bumpers either way.

  • We do and love it for the head banging, pacifier wrangling reasons. I'm pretty sure he would freak the eff out if he ever got legs stuck through, and they would get stuck with my little chubby thigh baby.
  • We used to, but took them off when she started pulling herself up and trying to step on the bumpers. By that point, she was very mobile and didn't have a problem getting herself stuck in the rails anymore or bumping her head due to trying to sit up but still being very wobbly.
  • We've had them since about 4mos because DS kept getting his limbs stuck, even with a sleepsack on. After having to go in like 3x one night (in addition to feedings), I went out and got them the next day.
Might take them off when he starts really pulling up/climbing.
