On Tuesday I had mild swelling in my feet and ankles, I could only tell because my shoes didn't feel the same. I also had my 38 week appointment Tuesday morning and my bp was normal. By Tuesday night my right ankle was so swollen my toes tingled and when I walked the tingling was in my ankle too. The swelling amount/size was the same as when I had broken it. I elevated it and drank lemon water and by morning the swelling was down and almost even to the left. The swelling keeps coming back, not as severe but close to it. Tonight its in both ankles. I have no symptoms of preeclampsia, but it's nerve wracking because I didn't really experience swelling during pregnancy until now.
I've heard that both ankles is better than one in terms of what it could be but it doesn't hurt to call. When you say you have no symptoms of pre-eclampsia I believe (and I am not an expert!) that the first symptoms are high blood pressure and protein in the urine which would be hard to detect yourself. Once you got the noticeable symptoms it would be pretty bad already. If in doubt make the call!
Sudden swelling is a symptom of pre-e. You should call your doctor. ETA: I had pre-e and my BP hung around 140/80. Just Because your BP isn't sky high doesn't mean there are other symptoms.
water water water water water. My ankles have swollen the past three times, but it was when my shoes didnt fit and my hands looked like a giants hands that i figured out it was BP - that was 4 days PP. I dont think I had nearly enough water with my last one, it is soooooo very important. Keep the feet up as much as you can.
My ankles and feet have only started to swell in the last week (week 30-31), plus my hands have clearly increased in size too as my wedding band no longer goes on! Yikes! Seems to only worsen when I have been on my feet most of the day at work. Not long now only 4 more weeks until I go on maternity leave - woo Hoo!
