Leaving hats, boots, etc at daycare?

DD spends a lot of time outside when she's at daycare, which is different than last year when she was in the infant room. Does anybody plan to leave duplicates of things like hats, gloves, boots, jackets, and snowpants at daycare, or will you just always trek those items back and forth?

Re: Leaving hats, boots, etc at daycare?

  • We will.  DD has a cubby so right now she has a hoodie sweatshirt and duplicate blankies for nap time.  She also has a duplicate sippy.  As it gets colder we will add a coat, hat etc.  It makes it so much easier especially since Dh does drop off so i don't have to worry about him remembering everything. :)

  • Our day care actually recommends that we leave a pair of boots and snow pants there. I won't likely leave hat and mittens there. Those will travel with us back and forth along with a coat. We live in the midwest---so in the winter you need those items to trek back and forth between home and daycare anyway.

  • We do this.  During the warmer months, we keep a sun hat and sweatshirt (which we take home when it needs to be laundered), and I pick up a spare set of snowpants, parka (I only put a fleece jacket on him when he's in his carseat), hat, and gloves at a garage sale to stay at DC for the winter.  It's not the cutest, and last year it didn't match, but hey, it does the job.  We also go to a home daycare, and DS has a huge cubby under the stairs that has more than enough room to keep these things in.

  • Long story short DS switched to a new in-home daycare lady in August, she watches the kids at one of the kid's parents' house currently but will move the daycare to her son's house next month. So I haven't really been leaving things at the current house they are at. But once they move I'll leave spare winter clothes, probably a pair of snow boots/outside shoes, any medicine, his blanket and a stuffed animal of his...
