Pregnant after a Loss

New question. Please advise. Is this headache normal?

New question: sorry to ask another "is this normal question?", I didn't want to add a new post to the board just for that. I'm freaked out about my low back pain. To the extent that I'm lying in bed with hours afraid to move. With about a week I've been waking at night with back ache. It's pretty severe. At first I assumed miscarriage but my pregnancy symptoms have since progressed and I havent had any sign of mc. So I assumed its a normal pregnancy symptom. But is it really normal to not be able to sleep at night because of the pain? I only seem to get it at night which causes me to be a but stiff for while in the morning. I remember with DS I had such bad back ache that I had to stop working early on. But that was 7 years ago and I've had two miscarriages since then. Thanks ladies & sorry for the double question post. But your opinions are so helpful! :)

Hi all. Im 6weeks +3 and I know that headaches can be normal. since I hit 6 weeks the nausea has started. No vomiting, just a feeling that I have the worst hangover ever morning to night for the past few days. But the headache is just something else, day and night from the moment I open my eyes. It's like I'm carrying concrete bricks on top of my head. And I've forehead pain too. It's seems to be getting worse. The only thing that relieves it is to constantly sleep. As soon as I open my eyes again POW it's there. As it's the weekend I can't get in touch with my doctor and would have to go to ER but since that may be completely unnecessary I thought I'd ask you ladies for opinions :) thanks :)

  • I've been drinking black tea other days but maybe it's not enough. Thanks. Heading straight for the kitchen for coffee :)

  • When I was about 7 weeks and my ms kicked in super hard, I was having lots of headaches too.  The nurse I spoke with about it told me to make sure I was drinking enough and that I should drink a small coke if I was still getting bad headaches.  Even per-pregnancy, I actually almost always would drink something with caffeine and take pain meds (I'm usually an advil or aleve girl, but of course now it's just tylenol) when I got a headache.  Worked like a charm for me.

I also would try a warm bath and a nap.  Often my pregnancy headaches have been tension headaches and doing these things helps, too.  If nothing is working, I'd go ahead and call the nurse line to see what you should do.  Even if you can't speak with your doctor, there should be an advice line you can call.  I know my insurance has an advice line, too.

  • I am a big believer in essential oils. At 6-8 weeks I was sick though! Nauseous, headaches etc. Definitely make sure you are hydrated properly. You need so much extra hydration now. Every time I am dehydrated I get headaches. Hot tea also helps along with rest. By week 9 I started not feeling so very bad.

  • Thanks ladies :)
  • Have you had an ultrasound at all? The terrible backaches could be a sign of something wrong, or they could just be a pregnancy symptom. If you haven't, it might be worth calling your doctor. As for the headaches, I've found that a cup of tea (a little caffeine, but not a lot) and a ton of water work best for me.

    Hope you feel better soon!!!
