Hi everyone. I'm Danielle. I've had four miscarriages and the only possible cause has been determined to be PCOS. While we have been able to have children (4 boys), 2 of them with some medical assistance, we will be starting our first "Evaluation cycle" for IVF with PGD in 2 weeks in the hopes of having a daughter. I'm extremely nervous and anxious, not ready to ride the rollercoaster of emotions again. I'm glad to be here and meet all of you!

Why exactly are you needing to do PGD? Were your miscarriages caused by a genetic condition that spared the four amazing babies you were blessed with?

Although about 3% of IVF clinics in the United States perform PGS/PGD for gender selection or to select FOR a disability, it is generally frowned upon in the scientific community. I hope I am misunderstanding WHY you need to go to such great lengths just so you can pick and choose which miracle you want.

If in fact you ARE doing this solely to have a girl, I highly suggest you exit this board right now. You will find no support here.

Sorry, you lost me at "IVF with PGD in hopes of having a daughter"

After trying for over 3 years, I'd be happy with anything we get, and the fact that you already have 4 healthy children is just making me feel bad for them. Sorry boys, you're not enough, Mommy really wants a girl.

I won't even wish you luck. I will wish you mental health.

Do you actually have a doctor willing to do IVF with you just to select the gender?

If you have a fifth son, will you give him to one of us?

PGD is not just being done for gender. We had a daughter that died, that I would have preferred not to speak about, however this "wonderful" mod likes to jump to conclusions because I used "in the hopes of having a daughter". I'm sorry there is a hole in my heart.:(

I'm sorry you lost a daughter, but you still said you are doing PGD in hopes of having a daughter. Meaning you will get the genetic testing back and ask to transfer female embryos. Idk what other conclusions could be reached from that statement? You didn't say "We're doing IVF/PGD in hopes of having another HEALTHY BABY" You said "In hopes of having a daughter"

I am sorry there is a hole in your heart, too. There's a hole in ALL of our hearts for a sibling(s) for our children, no matter the sex. You'll have to find another group if you want support for your cherry picking of a girl. There are too many ladies here, and on primary IF that are longing for a healthy baby of any sex, to be worried about whether or not you will produce female embryos so you can fill your hole. This is NOT the place for that, sorry.

Truly I feel for your losses but I have a very difficult time understanding the mentality of the whole gender selection thing...especially since the whole thing is causing you a ton of anxiety as per your post on the PPD board.

I urge you to seek the support of a psychologist before continuing this journey. At the least, I would hope counselling is a requirement of your RE for cases like this.

I, too, am sorry for your loss and I understand that there may very well be a gapping hole in your heart. But, I want to point out that going through IVF with the purpose of gender selection is very different than going through it because of infertility. The idea that you can relate to those of us here is offensive and, quite frankly, inappropriate. This is an infertility board, that is something which you are not. I don't think this is the board for you. I'm sure you realize that already from the posts above.

I am not doing IVF for the purpose of picking the gender. I am doing it to avoid further losses.

I've needed medical assistance to have my last two children-- so yes, I think I know what infertility is. I've had the recurrent losses, did testing, the whole nine yards.

Ok, do you not see how this is totally different than what you have BEEN saying? You made SEVERAL references towards having a girl in your posts. I don't understand why the sex of the baby would even be part of any of your comments if the purpose is to avoid a loss?!?!?!

What were the results of the testing? I'm genuinely curious about that since you do have 4 living children. Also, at what point during the span of your 4 pregnancies did the losses occur? You mentioned in another post you have a 1 year old.

@Dannie138‌, I would like to know the same thing as potatocastillo! You're conflicting in your answers and statements. I'm sorry for your l loss. Many of us can identify but not many of us can identify with having 4 living children and doing IVF with a one year old possible just to get a specific gender child. That is how your posts and info read.
