Short version: Nikola Julian was born at 10:10am on 9/30 after a short but intense med-free birth. 7lbs-2oz and 20" long.
Long version: on Monday, the 29th, I had been having mild but inconsistent ctx all day, but I had been having those for a few days and they always went away when I went to sleep. I was due on the 27, so I was hoping.
Went to bed at 10, woke up at 1am with stomach pains, different than anything I felt, so I thought it was bad food related. I couldn't sleep and realized they kept coming, so I decided to make food, and woke up DH. Ctx kept coming and were about 4min apart at 6, so we loaded up to go to the hospital. At check in, I found out I was already 9cm with a bulging bag of waters! Very exciting to get so far so fast. We get in the room, start laboring and I was so hard! They never really got on top of each other so I am thankful for the breaks where I would just zone out and lean against DH. Med free was always my goal, but wow! It's tough!!
They broke my water to help speed it along, it was more hindering at that point and then I started pushing. I was definitely saying I couldn't do it a few times. It didn't seem like I was making much progress, the head would start crowning and then go back. They had to put me on oxygen and baby seemed stuck, so they suggested an episiotomy, but at that point I was so done, so I agreed and we found out why I was having such a hard time, his hand was by his head on the way out! Hardest thing I've ever done but so rewarding! DH helped catch and let us know we had a boy. Nikola came into the world at 10:10, and still loves to keep his hands at his face.
Thanks for reading, if you got this far!!
