Ergo Help

So lately DS continually tries to stand up in the Ergo :(  No matter how tight I try to make the waist strap, he sticks his feet down in it and stands up on my hip bones.  I'm not using the infant insert and have just been rolling up the blanket for under his butt.  He isn't whining or anything when he is in it, just acts like a little jumping bean by wedging his feet down into the waist band.  Any ideas?  What am I doing wrong??

Re: Ergo Help

  • Do you pull his feet out to be on your sides? Basically the inside of his knees should be on the sides of your stomach.  When they are little their feet won't stick out super far but when I put my LO that way, there's no way he could stand up and jump.

  • Maybe try speeding her legs farther around your waist? I've noticed Amelia doing this if she thinks her feet are squished. But then she wiggles her feet in my waistband, so what do I know. ;)

  • I generally spread his knees out to be to the side on my stomach and he works his feet down little by little until he has them in the waist band. Hmmm. He is pretty long legged but not quite long enough to be working out the sides yet. Maybe we just have to keep practicing and dealing with it until he gets a little bigger. Thanks guys!

DH drug out the Ergo today & I got worried about her hips being spread apart so far.

Also,  he keeps wanting to put her forward facing even though I tell him that's not an approved position at her age....
I worried about the hips being spread so far at first but now that he weighs more I don't feel like he's so fragile. Babies are flexible. He normally lays with them spread anyway.
  • Curious: is anyone using the Ergo hip carry position at this age, or do we need to wait until they are bigger? I feel like I could get way more done around the house in the hip carry.

  • The Ergo 360 (newest model) allows for forward facing
