How does your baby sleep?

DD did a lot of sleeping on her tummy during the day for naps but she also slept on her back just only at night, I think bc I was paranoid about SIDS I wouldn't let her sleep on her tummy at night. With DS he only wants to sleep on his tummy, if I ever put him on his back he just fusses or cries until I roll him over. I had a friend whose baby is now an angel baby bc of SIDS and she put him on his back every time she put him down. He only got about 30 min of tummy time a day.

So how does your LO sleep?

  • I am also TERRIFIED of SIDS, but likewise, LO will only sleep on her tummy. But I try to remind myself I was part of the generation where it was safest to sleep your baby on their tummy, my younger sister was a "sleep your baby on their sides", and my brother made it into the back sleeping babies -- and we are all okay.

  • Yikes. What would you do? I am honestly incredibly terrified of SIDS, but like I said LO absolutely refuses to sleep on her back. @crystalangel79‌

My baby sleeps how he sleeps and screw anyone who says it should or shouldn't be that way. Of COURSE I'm terrified of SIDS. But I also have a baby who rolls himself from back to side and sleeps better on his stomach.

I feel like the chart above is really just terrifying and unnecessarily hurtful to mothers who try to do what is best for Their baby. I'm sure lots of moms ignore the no blankets or animals in the bed rule while tummy sleeping which impacts those stats

I agree. My LO sleeps on her back during the day because she's in the rnp, but at night she will only sleep on her side.

I agree. And DS sleeps with like three blankets bc DH turns the air conditioner way down at night. I also have a stuffed animal in his crib bc it plays music but he only naps in his crib during the day.
  • I put my LO on her back but she rolls to her side. Even in her bouncy chair, she'll curl up on her side. So I let her be. I can't get a solid sleep at night so I'm constantly checking on her.
  • she sleeps on her back/sideish. she likes ro roll onto her side a lot. She absolutely HATES being on her stomach so I am extemely greatful I don't have to deal with judgment/risks of letting her sleep on her stomach.

  • Belly sleep when he naps on us, some side naps in the Moses basket during the day. At night he falls asleep on the boob, then gets put on his back.

  • I always lay LO on his back and sometimes he manages to roll himself to his right side. I figure if he is capable of rolling to his side, there is nothing I can do to stop him in the middle of the night. I allow tummy nap time when supervised on my chest but I don't lay him to sleep that way. Just makes me too nervous and he is usually pretty content on his back anyways (unless he had some gas he wasn't able to burp out).

  • If she falls asleep on my chest during the day, I will lay her on her tummy to not disturb her. At night, when I won't be watching, on her back and sometimes she rolls/curls up to the side.

  • No judgement here, but I only let DS sleep in his back, just because I'm paranoid, but we also don't have to deal with reflux, so there's that. The only thing that irks me is MIL always finds a way to tell me how her children slept on their sides and tummies and they're alive. Lady, I don't care about what you did or didn't do 20 something years ago- my kid, my choice.
  • DD sleeps on her side. She rolls herself over, and has since we brought her home. At first I tried to roll her to her back, but the ped has said if she won't have it on her back then the side is second safest so I let her sleep how she is comfortable.

  • My Sophia sleeps a mixture of back and tummy. Recommendation constantly change. Do what you think is best for your situation.
