Baby sock rant

Ok so DD starts daycare tomorrow and I bought a bunch of long-sleeved onesies and little leggings for her to wear. Nothing fancy just easy and warm since the weather has started to get cold here. Not sure what to put on her feet since baby socks never stay on! The ones I have (circo brand from target) fall off almost immediately. I feel silly putting shoes on her everyday when she's just going to my sister's house a couple miles away. I also don't want to leave her in footie jammies 24/7 (nothing wrong with this but for some reason I feel like she should be halfway "dressed" to go to DC as its a preschool too). Am I overthinking this? Does anyone have an alternative to these blasted baby socks? Maybe some booties or something? What are you putting your LO in for daycare that's weather appropriate?

  • @MrsDeo‌ I love Zutano, they make the cutest stuff. Definitely going to look into getting some of these. Thanks!
  • BRU had some footed leggings that I bought.

  • I love the footed leggings. We have no luck with socks even though DD has huge feet...
  • @courtniko‌ what brand were the footed leggings?

My LO has tiny feet and loses socks all of the time (shoes are totally out of the question :(); however, the Babies R Us brand (high top kind) are tight enough around her ankle that they actually stay on! Haven't lost one yet.

  • @midwestFNP they were Koala Brand.

  • I bought some one piece footie outfits that were cute and didn't look like pajamas at all. I just think it's easier and you don't have to worry about socks or matching shirts and pants.

I found lots of options at tj maxx for cheap!

  • Yeah my DS has cankles now so it's not a big problem but before I would just put the socks over the pants (Aladdin style) and tried getting more of the tube socks.

  • I am having the same problem for my LO. She has long skinny feet and legs so nothing fits. Right now I have three pair of boy socks from my nephew that work, so I'll be hitting up BRU tomorrow based on the suggestions above. Thanks!
  • Hanna Andersson makes the best baby socks. They are a little pricey but so worth it. If you are in the DC area, you can pick them up at Tysons.

Those little Zutano things are too freaking cute! As far as the socks go, I put the socks over the bottom of the leggings. Not the cutest look, but I haven't lost any socks since I've started doing it.
We do the same thing, I always say, "Sorry baby this is a little geeky but your feet will be warm!"

  • We have some Mudpie brand socks that stay on. Nothing else has worked for us. It's frustrating.
  • I do cable knit tights boy or girl in the cool months.

  • Agree with Hanna Andersson socks. Only ones that stay on and they wear well also.

  • We had great luck with old navy triple roll socks, nothing else stays on. I do love the zutano booties, totally getting S a pair!

  • DD has big feet, but only half of the socks we have for her stay on. I have more success when I pull the pant leg over her socks.

  • I have lots of footed leggings, mostly Carters that came with matching onsies. I also got a couple of pairs of Carters slippers from Walmart that are wonderful. The are fuzzy slippers with little animal faces on the toes (DD got a pink pair and a purple pair, both had kitties on them). We can't keep the knit Carters slippers on her feet to save our lives. I have also had good luck with Carter's socks staying on. They also make really cute outfits that are made similar to the footed pajamas, but don't look like they should be slept in.
  • After this post I did some searching and found these for pretty cheap:

Seem like they will be great for these colder months.

  • Circo socks always fall off for us too, but she has some Carter's socks that stay on great
