  The longest my guy has gone has been 3 days--- then blowout upon blowout.
  
  Everything I've read has said baby constipation is about consistency of the stool, not the time between stools. So if it isn't hard or difficult to pass, I wouldn't do anything.

  We give 1 oz of prune juice every other day in a bottle

  EBF. He's uncomfortable which makes me what to help him out. I've been doing tummy massages and bicycling.

  With EBF a week without a BM isn't worrisome if there isn't discomfort. But since you've mentioned he's uncomfortable... have you tried the thermometer trick? Do you have an exersaucer (aka The Poop-o-matic)? I wouldn't give a 4 month old fruit juice if I could avoid it, but these two things usually worked with my son.

  I've tried the thermometer twice without success. He has a jumperoo. I'll put him in that. DS is 5 mo this old.

  2 oz of pear juice. I wouldn't do prune this early. Don't water it down. Works perfect.

  Have you tried putting him in a cute outfit and doing a photo shoot? Because that's LO's favorite time for a blowout.
  
  In all seriousness, though, we've dealt with this too. LO just went three days with nothing, despite the thermometer trick yesterday when she was uncomfortable. This morning she woke up cheerful as can be with such a load in her pants I have no idea how the diaper contained it.

  We have also had DS go several days without a BM and was straining with passing gas. I called our Dr and they said that BF babies can go 7-10 days. Watch for changes in color or consistency rather than frequency. Also monitor wet diapers and general mood.

  You can try 1-2 oz of prune, pear, or Apple juice. Or milk of magnesia. And you can do both back and forth.
