I was wondering what everyone else's doctors said about these foods. Our doctor said to wait until he was 2 to try them. We do not have any food allergies in our families. I kind of thought he would be able to try them after 1 year old.
With DD1 my pedi said 3 but I gave it to her at 2. I'll probably wait a few more months until I introduce nuts to DD2, maybe 1.5 yrs. We don't eat fish.

But (FFFC? ) we gave him peanut butter on toast starting around 10.5 or 11 months and tried eggs a little earlier than that. He didn't get shellfish just because my DH doesn't eat it often. Did your pediatrician say why she thought it was better to wait until 2?
I asked if he could have honey now. And she said yes but to wait for nut products and shellfish until after 2.
She's had both a couple of months before turning 1. No issues with her, but also no history of allergies with any of it. The only thing she didn't have before one is honey, and I still don't give it to her. No reason to give her honey. I don't eat honey, but DH puts it on his Cheerios. He likes that better than the pre-made Honey Nut Cheerios.
The only thing that I haven't given her is soy-based products because I have a sensitivity to soy.
Our ped said there was no restrictions other than honey, I have an almond allergy so she said we might want to wait on nut products until she is one but that we didn't have to. She just said don't introduce anything else new that day. We haven't given nuts yet because she had some diaper rash and I wanted it to be cleared up so that I can know if she's having a reaction. At our 1 year the ped said that everything is fine even honey, but we probably won't give it to her for a while because I don't see a real need to do so.
Specific allergies are not inherited, only the tendency to get allergies is. Ie- my dad is allergic to peanuts so I am predisposed to food allergies, but I'm not any more likely to be allergic to peanuts specifically.
We've given peanut butter a few times already throughout the last couple months. We were told that the longer you wait to introduce these things the more likely the body will consider it a foreign substance and cause an allergic reaction. I haven't given her any type of fish yet though mainly because we never eat fish or any type of shell fish.
