not 100% sure about baby's name - anyone else feeling this way?

Hi everyone and congratulations!!
I am not a regular poster but I have read the sept. board since finding out back in january.

my daughter arrived 9/28 at 5:11 am
We decided on day two to name her
Miranda Reese Martinez

it was a name we liked all along and it seemed to fit more then the other choices - (Isabel, Helena, Amelia)
part of me loves it and another part feels like it's a big name and a little bit hard sounding.
Also her big sisters name is charlotte jane /  so charlotte and miranda - sounds great - but can't help feeling stuck on the unfortunate sex and the city connection...
We only told close family so far.  I didn't post pictures on fb yet.  i made a birth announcement on tiny prints but can't seem to bring myself to checkout the cart.
any suggestions / thoughts...

anyone else questioning their name choice?

  • I went back and forth a lot before LO was born but ultimately we decided to stick with our first instinct. I think you will grow to love it again. In the meantime you can always choose a nickname you feel is a little softer, if you feel it's too harsh

  • I have quite a few female students that go by Randy and they are all super cute and very nice girls.

  • Oh also I own all of sex and the city, and I actually thought of Miranda Bailey from Greys Anatomy first...

  • I like Miranda! It reminds me of The Tempest. How about Miri for a softer nn?

  • I think its a beautiful name. I have to be honest, I cannot say I was 100% sold on any of my kids names right away, it took several months before it finally felt "normal" to call them by their names instead of just saying "baby" or using a nickname. Still feeling this way about dd3. But now their names suit them.

  • I love the name. I was unsure about DDs name when she was first born. It took me about 2 months to even call her her name and not baby. But now she's two now and I can't picture having another name beside Mila.
  • I'll admit that when DH decided to name her Sirona that I decided on a whim to go with it, and regretted it for the first weekish after she was born.. but then I started to see my little Ro in there, and I know that one day she'll grow into her name. It was a big decision to saddle your LO with a name that s/he'll use the rest of their lives(well, probably..) I think it's natural to have some apprehension.

  • Yea, I've questioned it. I love his name (Samuel Oliver) but it still feels very weird to say aloud. So you are not alone!

  • I love that name.

I question LO's name. She does not look like an Emily to me at all, but I call her Em and feel like it fits. I still second guess the middle name choice for DD1 name and she is 2.5. I wouldn't change it because it is who she is to me now, but I think I should have gone with something more personal.

  • I love your name choice!

I second guess the spelling of our dd's middle name. But I choose her first name and the spelling, so I didn't argue with my DH about the spelling of her middle name.

  • Definitely but only bc I wanted his first name to be Jaxson. He is a Jaxson. But alas, the name tradition had to be upheld but at least he's being called Jaxson. We never tell names until we have met the child first incase we changed our minds. Like this time we had jaxson and Owen for middle names. He looked like a Jaxson not an Owen. The name will grow on you. I think it's a great name :)

I like Miri!! That's what I was going to suggest!! Lol :) Miranda doesn't sound too hard though. But you know her best, you'll find what works for her!!
