Enlarged placenta

Went in for a u/s at 17 weeks and was told I have an enlarged placenta. Baby is growing just fine so that's the good news. Now I'm going in to see a HR OB for another detailed u/s. I did some background reading but still unsure how this happened or what to expect. I don't smoke, no diabetes and I eat plenty of protein so a bit lost. I'm sure I'll have more info after this next u/s but wondering if anyone else has dealt with this before?

  • Good luck, I have no experience with this but just found out I have an anterior placenta I'm not sure if that's anything similar

  • They are worried I will have the opposite problem of having a plecenta that is too small. The doc I saw said I for now just need more ultrasounds then normal and will probably see my doctor more often. I'm refraining from googling anything about it becuase I don't want to worry myself to death if they aren't worried. FX for you and that it won't be anything more then something they keep watching!
  • I have no experience and never heard of thst! I also assume I won't know anything about my placenta until a/s. Will it be a big problem or just something to keep an eye on? Let us know how the next few appts go!
  • Hmm and here I thought enlarged placenta sounded like it could be a good thing... Sorry I dont have any insight but wishing you the best of luck!
