Hey ladies I don't know if I'm in the right place and sorry if I'm not. I'm new to TB but I have been to the Trouble TTC forum but I have a question about IUI sucess. First off a quick run through of my situation.... I am 23 and MH is 26 we have been TTC for 1 year and no luck. My ob sent us over to an RE after MH SA came back with a lower morphology count at 14% she likes to see that at 30%... so my RE checked my tubes which they are not blocked and I have always had regular 29-30 day cycles. MH sperm count and motility is good so no concerns there. We did our fisrt IUI cyle last month on clomid 50mg and the trigger shot with 1 follicle and the day after u/s had shown that my follicle had ruptured but it sadly resulted in BFN. This cycle they bumped me up to 100mg clomid and I will be doing trigger shot tomorrow night and iui #2 on Saturday. I went in for an u/s today to look at follicles ....they were hoping for 2 instead of 1 this time but I of course I only have the 1.... I don't really know how to feel... I'm happy to have the 1 but was praying so hard for 2... so to get to my question.... has anyone had success with only having 1 follicle on iui? I know it only takes 1 but was just needing to hear a success story. Again sorry for posting if I'm in the wrong place!
I only takes one! You definitely have a shot this cycle. Fourteen percent morph is actually not bad at all. MH has 1-2% morph plus low motility. We had success with IUI and 3 follicles and we had success on our own with #2. Don't count yourself out just yet. Good luck!!
TTC#1 for 19 months with PCOS and MFI IUI#3 + injectables = BFP!!!! Beta#1-134(13dpiui) Beta #2-392(15dpiui) #1 born December 2011
TTC#2 - Beta #1 -51@10dpo Beta#2 -1353 @16dpo #2 born May 2013
TTC # 3 June 2014 BFP 12-1-14
#3 born August 2015 #4!!!!!!! due June 2017
On my second IUI cycle I only had one mature follicle and got pregnant, it did end up in a miscarriage, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with the cycle. Good luck
I'm really confused by the morph. That sounds like awesome morph to me. My husband had 0%.
Anyway, I think only having one follicle for an IUI isn't necessarily a bad thing. Better to get pregnant with one baby than say, five babies. With my successful IUI I had two mature follicles and that was after taking massive doses of Femara as I am a poor responder to drugs.
I'm assuming all of your levels are fine? FSH, AMH and do you know what your antral follicle was?
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
Thank you all for the responses. And I will say that I am confused about the morphology too. When I did the first IUI morphology was at 16% and was injected with 16 million WS. My RE says that there lab judges a lot harder than my ob so I was thrilled when he they told me 16%. So idk. Sorry to hear about your MC @sambrownmac10 that must have been awful! And it's nice to hear about the other success stories too. I think this process is just wearing on me so much because I'm so ready to be pregnant and have a baby. It's hard to because my friends and family can't relate. All my friends have kids and are gearing up for #2 or they are pregnant and my sister (who wasn't trying) got pregnant twice in the last year, the 1st resulted in MC but now she's due in January with my little nephew. I'm just so ready for IUI on Saturday I'm just trying to relax and think positive. I really hope that this is our month!
Am I missing something? Do you have a diagnosis? Like @itsmevkb asked, how were all your other test results? What is the purpose for doing IUI? Because of the "low" morphology?
If you aren't responding well to clomid, femara is another option.
TTC with PCOS since November 2009
IUI#1 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP, m/c IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP! beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75 beta #2 11/28 = 2055 Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012! Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!

Thank you it was very hard but I did a cycle immediately after (with 2 mature follicles) and now have a wonderful 6 month old boy. Having people close to you get pregnant (especially accidental) is very hard. be sure to talk to someone if it gets really hard, my best friend has the same issues as me and after her 2nd failed round of IUI she got really depressed and contemplated suicide. Please be kind to yourself, I hope you have a successful IUI this time around.
Congratulations on your little boy! I bet he brings so much joy to your life! And I totally get how your friend is feeling. I mean not the suicidal contemplation but the depression part. It's like you have no control over it and then seeing all your friends with their beautiful babies or their beautiful bellies really pulls on the heart strings. I hope your friend is in a better mental space and she's lucky to have you to talk to since you understand what she is going through.
And I am doing iui because MH and I have been ttc for a year with no success. I have no diagnosis and all of my tests are normal. MH sperm count and motility is totally normal it is just the morphology they are concerned about.
I realize I'm a few days late to this discussion but I thought I'd chime in.
It can take a few tries for IUI to work so don't get too discouraged. I only had 2 mature follicles on my successful IUI cycle. As long as at least one egg is available, there is a chance!
Your doctors will switch up your meds as needed. Clomid works for a lot of ladies, but it did not work for me, unfortunately. I needed Follistim to get my BFP.
Thanks! I'm in the awful 2ww now. I can't wait to test next Friday....I always get my hopes up and I always feel confident so hopefully this will be our month we just cannot wait to become parents! And I'll also be happy to be off meds, I think I get a little crazy emotional on them haha ....my poor husband.
