DC napping question

Hi - I just found a note posted by the sign in sheet at my DS daycare that the children will no longer be sleeping on cots but will be sleeping on the carpet instead.  I am moderately grossed out by this because numerous children, teachers and parents all walk on that carpet with their shoes on - tracking in who knows what.  My son is 2 and his sisters also attended this DC but have always slept on cots.  I am not sure of why they are making the change.  What do your kids sleep on for nap time at this age at DC?

Thanks

ETA: This is what they slept on up until today

At his current daycare DS sleeps on a nap map that we provide. We bring it on Monday and take it home for washing on Friday.

When he slept on the cot, did he sleep directly on it? At DS's prior DC he slept on a cot and we brought a sheet, so it isn't as if he ever slept directly on anything at DC.

ETA: I just also wanted to add that DS's nap mat is super cute also and has his name embroidered on it and has an attached pillow and blanket flap. He calls it his bed. I bought ours from a monogramming place by my house (that also did the personalization) but target, amazon, and lots of other places sell similar things. Some people just have a kindermat, and then on etzy there are people that make covers for them that are really cute (sometimes the kindermat is included sometimes it's not). Wildkin is a popular brand of nap mat sold on amazon and I've seen it at Learning Express and other boutique children's stores near me.

There's a whole industry of cuteness associated with DC/preschool nap mats.

  • DS is 20 months and sleeps on a cot (with a sheet on the cot). Are you sure its not a mat on the carpet that you or they provide? There is no way I would allow my DS to sleep on a bare carpet...thats gross and not comfortable.
  • Nap at that we provide here. We got ours on Amazon. It's a kidsline one and super-cute.
  • Cot with sheet (they provide) and blanket (we provide).

  • I would get clarification. My daughter slept on the floor at preschool but I had to purchase a vinyl nap mat for her to use (and then got a cover on etsy that they would send home to be washed).
  • I'd  be getting a nap mat for my kiddo, minimally, but I second getting clarification and checking state regulations.  Also, in our daycare, shoes are not worn into the rooms at all.  All shoes must be taken off in the lobby and we walk into the center in our socks.

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback!  I ended up expressing my concerns to the Director when I did pick up. I guess the other locations for this daycare sleep directly on the floor but the kids are in sleeping bags. (Still gross and I cannot believe the other parents do that) . She agreed that the set up of our particular room is not conducive to sleeping on the floor.  Our DC has rules posted about taking off shoes in the room - but parents are the worst offenders and never follow it.  She sent me an email this morning and said we are going back to cots and that is was a trial run.  Yeah!  If they go back to the floor I will be purchasing my own nap map.

  • You mean at the other centers the DC provides sleeping bags? Is there a sleeping bag assigned to each kid ? That's kind of weird...
