I need help! Pulling a FTM here, guys.

HELP us come up with a name for out baby girl! DH and I are having such a hard time and I'm getting kind of nervous about it. Don't hate me for asking for help. They totally flame for this on D14 but I figured since it's slow and no one has brought it up here in so long maybe it'd be ok?? The name board I have found sort of useless.

Soooo.... What we have is this: DH's grandmas name was Lucy. At first he really wanted to call her Lucy and I was just OK with it. Now he thinks too many things rhyme with Lucy and that she'll get picked on. I tried to tell him no matter what her name is, they'll think of something to poke fun. That's just how kids are. Nonetheless - Lucy got put on the backburner. We both kind of like Rowan. Is that too close to Logan? I call Logan "Lo" and I feel like Lo and Ro might cause confusion. I love Brynn. They really hate the name Brynn on the name board! Ekk! I like a form of Brynnlee/Brynlee too. I also really like Lilly. Not crazy about having another "L" though (same issue I had with Lucy). If we do ever have another one I'll feel like their name will have to start with a "L" too. Which I know it doesn't, but my OCD. We want something that's not super popular, but nothing that her or anyone else will ever have trouble spelling or pronouncing. I know Logan is somewhat popular, but neither of us know another one. If you guys read this whole thing and are bored, throw me out some girl names! Thanksss!

Why didn't they like Brynn?? I LOVE Brynn! I wanted that name but our last name is really abrupt and one syllable so it just doesn't sound right. My other favorites that DH shot down were Greta and Mallory.

@babybuns2 I have no idea why, but every time someone brings up Brynn they HATE it! They say it's very masculine? Which I don't get. Our last name is one syllable too. That's why I lean towards Brynlee and would call her Brynn all the time anyways.

@mamatoosh I've never heard Wyatt as a girls name? I agree, Clover is a little hippy dippy for me too. I do like Hazel. I like Cora too. DH - not so much. I told him he needs to start coming up with some names or I'm just going to pick one and he'll have to deal.

I really like Lucy! Would have definitely named LO that if our last name didn't start with an L (I don't care for the alliteration in that case, but I don't mind Logan and Lucy.) We went with Olive instead. Some other classic/old lady names I like: Ruby & Pearl

I like Brynn but not Brynnlee

I love Brynn. But brynlee sounds made up. I like lucy but like @esd I know a lot of lucy dogs. Not a fan of rowan. A L name I like a lot is Lena. The whole L thing doesn't bother me.

with all that said this is your baby so obviously what everyone else says doesn't matter and you can pick whatever name you like to

Love Brynn. Guess we're all bad baby-namers! Don't like Brynlee myself. I also like Lucy (my niece is a Lucy) but I also have hesitations about kids with same first letters. That probably stems from DH's cousins all naming their kids with C names.

I like Lucy. I think it's a pretty name and especially nice to have a meaning to it. I'm also a fan of Emmy (it was one of our backups) and Audrey. That's just my two cents. Naming a LO is so much harder than I thought.

If you don't want super popular then Lilly is probably not the best choice. Lily/Lilly and names that use Lily as a nickname are hugely popular. My DD is Liliana, and there seem to be a million little Lilys around. Brynn is NMS but it is pretty nonetheless. I definitely do not like Brynlee though. Lucy is very pretty. Not a fan of Rowan.

I think Rowan is adorable, along with Brynn.

I also think Lilah (sp?) and Kylie are super cute. If LO had ended up being a girl I liked Kylie Marie and Chloe Marie (both of which would've been a no go since DH didn't care for either of them).

ETA: DH feels the same way as many of you about Brynlee. He thinks it sounds made up or like we're trying too hard. Brynn might still be in the running. I'm just not sure with our last name.

I like Brynn, Lucy and Lilly. Brynnlee is a little out there for me. Maybe something like Brynn Lee, but as one name it sounds made up. I would not worry about having to "L" names. I am Allison, my sister is Andrea, but my other sister is Shannon. No one thought it was weird that there were two "A's" and an "S". I do get called Andrea all of the time though and she gets called Allison quite often. We just laugh it off.

I LOVE talking about baby names! I'm partial to Lily, as that's LO's name, but I also love Brynn...but not Brynlee. Rowan is pretty too, but I see what you're saying about the Lo and Ro thing.

I wouldn't use either of those, but know 2 girls with the names...just a suggestion

go with your gut and ignore getting flamed for a name you like.

I knew they were against Emerson and I asked for reasons why and most of them said. C it was masculine and ended with "son" therefore was a boys name, are you serious?

I love Brynn! Not so hot on Brynlee or anything of that nature.

I also love the names Blair, Cecile, and Cecelia.

How about Brynja? (Brinn-ya) That is my cousin's name and I always liked it. Adds an extra syllable to counter the one-syllable last name.

Brynn is a great name! Not my style, but a very nice name, nonetheless! Also not a fan of Brynlee.

I love Rowan but I actually like Rowena better. (Pronounced Ro-when-ah, not ro-ween-ah). I have a good friend with that name and I wish I could use it if I ever have a girl again.

Lucy Goosey is about the only rhyme that comes to mind when I hear Lucy, but I think kids will always find a reason to pick on someone. And really,with the names that people are coming up with these days, Lucy is totally tame and will probably fly under the radar.

I like the idea of Lucia that a pp had but to me it would be weird if I weren't from a strong ethnic background. I might be 2nd generation Russian, but I'm not naming my kid Dmitri or Ekaterina. I tend to go with more vanilla versions of names.

Love Logan, great choice. It'd be on our list if H didn't have a cousin with that name.

Not sure I'll be much help since my taste seems to run similar to the baby name board, but I'll give it a shot!

Lucy - love this name, and think it sounds nice with Logan. I personally wouldn't do the same letter for more than 2 kids though so if you know you will want to follow the pattern I'd pass. Maybe keep Lucy as a middle name for the family significance?

Rowan - LOVE this name - for a boy. I'm really not a fan of boy's names on girls. That said, I don't think Lo and Ro would be a big deal, as most people would call them their full names

Bryn - again, not a fan of boy's names on girls, and don't particularly like this name anyways. I prefer names with more than one syllable

Brinley - sorry, I hate this. Made up, trendy, and I don't love the sound. Plus Logan is such a nice, real name and I don't really think Brinley goes with it at all. If you LOVE this sound I would much prefer Bryn over Brinley

Lilly - pretty, but not my favourite name. I prefer it spelled Lily

What about Stella, Ruby, Harper, Norah, Molly, Ivy, Zoe, Clara, Susanna? I tried to think of a variety as I'm not getting a really specific sense of your style

Have you tried Nymbler? You can put in names you like and it gives you suggestions similar to the ones you enter.

Like I said before, I'm not a fan of Brynnlee but if you're going to go with that style of name, Brynnlee is WAY better than Braylee or Braelynn, in my opinion. Brynn is a much better nickname than Brae. All I think of when I hear Bray is the sound a donkey makes

@mamatoosh good point - I can think of a few names that I really love, largely because they are attached to a person that I love or admire. They totally don't go aong with my typical style and if I heard the names without the personal connection I may not love them as much
