TTC After a Loss

***Healthy Living Check-In***

Sorry I didn't get to check in with you all on Friday.  I'm hoping this week will be better for my participation :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Current participants - if I miss you (or if you're new), just jump in ---
Re: ***Healthy Living Check-In***
  • Hi ladies -sorry I've been so MIA the last couple of weeks.  between work travel and work deadlines in general my life has been not my own.  I've missed you all greatly.  I've got a few more deadlines looming this week, but I'm hoping I can be a better check-in leader and participant... :-)
    The Good: I got up and did my workout this morning --- eventhough my DVD player was misbehaving. I also did massive amounts of yard work on Saturday and Sunday with my husband (my legs are screaming at me as a result)
    The Bad:  My eating has been TERRIBLE. I mean TERRIBLE.. Must get under control now.
    The Proud: Workouts... that's all I got... and I ordered a new heart rate monitor which should be here by Wednesday
    Your Plan: Track all my food on MFP and work on no snacking except for what I planned on snacking on. (AKA - Don't eat M&Ms!)
    Question of the week --- What are you most looking forward to this fall season? Probably boots... but just cooler weather in general makes me happy. You know the cool weather I'm talking about... just chilly enough to warrant jeans and a light sweatshirt, but not so blistering cold that it requires a northface jacket? :-) That temperature is what I crave.
  • The Good: I lost a bit more weight last week.
    The Bad: DH and I went out to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner on Sat for our anniversary and I decided I wasn't going to try to eat healthy, so I'm sure I consumed way more calories than I needed to and had leftovers to share yesterday. I was still technically OK calorie-wise, but definitely not where I need to be to keep this weight-loss up.
    The Proud: My workouts are kicking my ass, but I'm still doing them and not skipping any of the exercises.
    Your Plan: Workout M-F and get back on track calorie-wise.
    Question of the week --- What are you most looking forward to this fall season? I was thinking this morning how I won't have to mow the lawn anymore soon. LOL, I'm looking forward to the leaves changing color. We went out apple-picking this weekend (so much fun and something I never did as a kid) and I hope to get to a pumpkin farm in the next couple weeks.
    Question for all of you ladies...I've been really dragging these days with working out so hard and trying to keep the carbs to a minimum. When I'm tired, my body wants all of the bad things to keep moving. What do you ladies have for snacks that help out when you are exhausted. I don't like nuts, so that's off the table. Any ideas of healthy snacks I can turn to?
    The good: I made a really good and healthy chicken fajita from the crock pot last week.
    The bad: I took the weekend off to track again and still haven't started working out.
    The Proud: I lost 1 lb last week and did well tracking.
    The Plan: Continue tracking and figure out how to get exercise in my days.
    QOTW: I can't wait to go to the pumpkin patch and the local farm for apple cider.
  • @CFearsy - Yes, I really like peanut butter.  Maybe that and a few light crackers would help.  Thanks for the advice!  No, it wasn't too terrible, and that cheesecake was the best thing I've eaten since...forever maybe.  LOL!  Good luck getting motivated.  Planning a schedule and sticking to it is the hardest part!
    @Nieko0423 - Congrats on the weight loss!  Yummy, apple cider...
  • @rmpar29 - Here are some of  my snacks: apple and peanut butter, hummus and carrots, bell peppers and guacamole, babybel light cheese, rice cakes, frozen grapes, strawberries, 95% fat free popcorn, Kind bars (though you may not like those without liking nuts). Even soups can be great.  I love veggie soups like curried butternut squash soup, and zucchini soup.  My latest favorite thing is combining peppadew peppers with hummus and kalamatta olives.  YUM.
    @Cfearsy - Sorry the scale is up... I understand your pain.  Hope you'll be able to find a gym closer to work.
  • The Good:Eating is good. I seem to have that under control
    The Bad: Beyond one day of convenience eating for dinner and a gluten free frozen pizza
    The Proud:The day after the pizza I took my usual bike ride to the grocery store and did not stop for a breather or water after any of the hills. First time with no stopping! And that was a feat, because I was feeling like crap after the pizza.
    Your Plan: Keep on keeping on. Try to fit in more bike rides I suppose!
    Question of the week --- What are you most looking forward to this fall season?
    I love it ALL!! I love the weather, I love the holidays, I love the decorations. And I especially love how from Halloween on till the rest of the year it's like one celebration after another. Also, Halloween falls on a Friday, so I'm throwing a party!
  • OMG! I completely missed this yesterday!!! Hi ladies! I'm about to hit the hay, but I wanted to give an update.
    The good: My fitbit is in full use. I love the sleep log, it's so fun!!
    The bad: I'm not doing so hot on the eating thing, and I kind of cheat when calorie counting. I made an apple pie on Friday night, and DH have already finished it.
    The proud: I was able to sink the fitbit and MFP!! It only took three tries.
    The plan: Continue to try to meet my step goal (I did this today, and it's super exciting).
    QOTW: I love apple and pumpkin flavored stuff. I love apple and pumpkin pie. So I look forward to eating pie. I promise to have enough calories burned to cover it!!
  • Congrats @mrandmrsk91011! Good luck on the Turkey Trot!
  • @menrandes – I’m always so impressed with your biking.  Keep it up.
    @furrypaws – Sorry that last week had some emotional days for you.  I feel ya.  I like your plan that the therapist helped you come up with.  How is it working so far?
    @readinglove – I totally understand the work insanity.  Just know we’re here for you J  Did you get your workout in today?
    @stinybean – I can’t believe MFP and fitbit sync took so long – glad it’s set up though.  How much are you sleeping so far?  I don’t average near enough sleep…
    @mrsandmrsk91011 – Way to go on the miles.  You rock lady – keep it up!
    @powerofbacon – Happy Birthday J  Belated, I think?  I’m glad you are seeing some non-scale-victories in your clothes fitting better.  I eat the same thing a lot for lunch too.  Have you thought about switching up your snacks or something so that you aren’t totally bored?
  • @MrsG80inTN‌ I average 5-6 hours during the week which I know is bad but I have to get up by 5:30 to leave for work so when I go to bed at 10:30 it just works out like that. Last night I only had one restless period until my alarm for temping went off, which is awesome! It only took that long because I have bad reception and the Bluetooth kept knocking out.
  • ugh! sorry I haven't posted yet!
    The good: eating small meals more often. drinking more water.
    the bad: no more weight loss. plateau!
    The proud: not much.
    The plan: keep up the work. start more exercise. drink more water
    Fall plans: enjoy the brief fall that we seem to be getting. Hike and get more wood. Going to need it I think since the forecast is calling for snow this weekend.
