I know our LOs aren't ready for slides yet, but I thought I'd share for those of you with older children.
Please read the article below or Google it and see how dangerous it is to ride down a slide with your child. I see people doing this and it makes me cringe every time. One of my kindergarten students broke her leg when she and another KID who was bigger than her went down the slide too close together. I was standing close enough to hear it snap and it was a terrible thing to witness.
Children's shoes can easy catch on the side of a slide due to the traction on their shoes, and when their leg isn't strong enough to withstand the force (like the weight of an adult's body going down with them) a broken leg is the result. Their bones can usually handle the force of their own body weight but they aren't made to handle more.
