So fussy and permanently latched...

For the past two days, my LO has been ridiculously fussy and is only happy if she's latched on. She doesn't have a fever, and it doesn't seem like there are any teeth bumps in her mouth (but I definitely could be wrong). She's only happy if she's nursing, fake nursing, or sleep nursing... My boobs need a break! She's almost 5 months... Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Yes!! My LO was doing this too! Could be teething people told me it hurts them to nurse but my daughter wanted to all the time. We would have good days and bad days. My pedi said infants Tylenol and that did the trick. Talk to your pedi see what he/she says.

  • I feel ya here! My DD has been sleeping very poorly lately (almost 5 months) and she nurses for comfort and to help her fall asleep. Could it be sleep related?
  • Yes! I had to "nurse" this guy for hours last night to get him to sleep. My poor boobies.

  • Thanks!! Yeah, it definitely could be teething/sleep related/I don't know! We'll talk to our pedi about trying some Tylenol...
  • Worth a try at least. Is she chomping on her fingers and toys a ton? That was a sure sign my daughter was teething. She is also going through the 4 month sleep regression but with the Tylenol I saw a difference with her fussiness.
  • Same here (see my no naps post).  He only napped five minutes the entire day yesterday and is taking an hour to nurse (or more) every time he nurses.  Definitely some "fake nursing" going on because I don't hear any swallowing sometimes.  I don't see any signs of teeth, but they could be on their way.  I also think it may be somewhat developmental and we are also dealing with reflux.  Poor guy!

  • DD did this on Saturday. Constant sucking. Granted, she was sick, but dear god.

I mourn the loss of of my pre-pregnancy boobs.

  • My LO was like this all weekend and this week. No sleep, constantly wanting to nurse then BAM it was all over and she's gone up an ounce in her bottles. I think it was a growth spurt even if it's not the right time for one it seemed to be HER time.

Yes the past three nights we have coslept with C on my boob basically all night. I don't know if it's a growth spurt or the 4 month sleep regression but it sucks and I'm exhausted. (I can't really sleep while side-lie nursing, but aleast I'm lying down). We have been topping him off with a bottle of formula before bed because I think my supply never recovered when I switched back to nursing from EPing (I was not pumping enough anyway).

I hope this ends soon, I'm going crazy I am so tired.

ETA: my phones auto correct sucks.
