how did you come up with the names for the grandparents? We still don't have official names and I don't want to go with traditional granma and grandpa.
I like Gigi, where did it come from? I was thinking of picking the names for my parents,Gigi and babo. My MIL is bumcha which is polish. She named herself.
My mother asked to be Nana since that's what she called her grandmother. FIL is Paps bc the whole family calls him that already. I'm fine with anything, although I do feel a little childish when I use both of those. I suppose that's the point!
TTC #1 since August 2011 w/ unexplained IF
09/12-11/13: 3 TIs, 3 IUIs, ICSI/PGS IVF & 2 FETs
08/14: Our little miracle has FINALLY arrived - 3 years after we started trying!
My mom is Mimi. My dad is Pappy. My grandma to her is GiGi and my grandpa to her is Papa. I have 3 total sets of grandparents myself left so besides the ones the live close the others will likely be Great Grandma (insert last name) to her. BF parents are grandma and grandpa.
All together LO has 2 sets of grandparents and 4 sets of great grandparents. This makes for ALOT of names and ALOT more spoiling lol
Both of DH's parents and my dad have passed away. My brother's kids call my mom grandma and my step dad is just Jeff. The nieces and nephew have a grandpa on the other side of the family, but Jeff will be the only grandpa figure our LO will have. I was thinking about papa Jeff, but I'm not sure how DH will feel about it. He and Jeff have had some personality issues in the past. I guess we will just let LO decide.
We also let them choose amongst themselves. 2 of the 3 grandfathers are both Grandpa, but everyone else has their "own" name. Nonni, grandpa/grampa (we pronounce both words the same), Nana, poppop and Grammy
My mom wanted to be called Nana and my MIL Sugar and I put the kabosh on both real quick.

MIL is Mimi, she picked that out herself. FIL is Pee-Pa (my oldest started that).
My parents are Grandpa and Gramonica (my mom's name is Monica, and we would say "Grandma Monica", so it got all garbled into one word...and that's what the boys call her! It's kind of funny, since it sounds like they are calling her by her first name.
We have the first grandchild on both sides. Everyone is grandma or grandpa until she's old enough to pick/decide on their names. I think MIL wanted a fancy name, but I kind of made fun of it so she is going with grandma. I don't feel bad though. She's the type that would have picked Glam-ma of something.
My mom referred to herself as Glamma once. I threw up in my mouth.

Haha, what would possess a grown adult to want to be called "Sugar"?! :-)
I ask myself that question every day.

My husband's mom is Nonny (not sure of it the spelling. I have to ask everytime I go to write it on something) Not sure what his stepfather is.
My mom is Babula.
Both my dad and his biological dad died in 2011 so they don't really have names yet. I know I'm going to use Polish for grandpa for my dad but have to look it up again.
