Re: WTF Wednesday

  • WTF spiders?! We live behind a pear orchard at our new place (also near a ravine) and they were mowing it this morning. Also, apparently all our neighbors were mowing, too. We woke up to huge spiders in our room. Now, we are trying a ton of different remedies to keep them away. UGH. It doesn't help that we had to go out of town for a few days the day after we unloaded the truck so nothing is unpacked and it's a mess in here. AHHH. I hate spiders!

Also, WTF, dad? We haven't spoken in 6 weeks and you text me to say you're not feeling well and won't make it to my abuela's 91st birthday. You only give the excuse, you don't ask how I'm doing, yu don't even say hi or anything, just excuse and then nothing. Screw you.

Oh, and the reason I was late posting this is because my computer had a glitch and the keyboard stopped working. Then, once I fixed it, it wouldn't connect to the internet for almost an hour. NOT MY DAY.

  • WTF Chili why do you keep peeing in the house even though I take you out 5-6 times a day? Your rescue said you were potty trained and of course I expect accidents while you get used to your new home, but peeing in the house right after I take you out? Do I need to get diapers?

OK Chili I take it back you are so damn cute you can pee everywhere I suppose!

If anyone has any house breaking tips please let me know :)

We used crate training for ours. It really works, but will still require patience. Our dogs have come to love their crates. They are den animals and even in the midst of moving and chaos and traveling, having their crates at the end of the day makes them much more relaxed and they feel secure.

  • @theholmanherd Ahha. I saw about the spiders and thought, oh no did spiders mess with your computer?! So sorry you have to deal with them. I lived in a studio in a concrete building for 2 years and during one fall season killed over 50 nasty juicy spiders that came out at night to run around the walls (they hunted, instead of webs)...woke up to one up in my nose...hope your spiders are more easily controlled!

    @tiko99 Aww lucky Chili. :)

WT... whoever invented pelvic ultrasound wands. There must be a better way. I'm feeling so, so sorry for us all right now. How hard could it be to have a tiny, flexible little version? Is this the 1950s?

@Tiko99 I have no tips but feel your pain.  Our lovely dog is more than capable of holding his bladder to pee outside (he isn't kept in a crate because he literally kicks his way out of them), but chooses to pee in the house out of spite when he's upset with us.  Animals, ugh!

@theholmanherd I share your frustration with fathers!

WTF to my father.  He returned from a trip to Africa with his gf and sent an email to his children saying "trip with a twist" and attaching a bunch of pictures.  So I open the pictures and start scrolling through - safari, nature, tour group pic, MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE!  Yup, my father got married in Africa and told his kids about via an email after the fact, awesome.  He's been with this woman quite awhile (long, messed up family history, but he most likely was cheating with her for years before actually leaving my mom for her about 18 years ago) so it's not that he got married so mch as the fact that he chose to tell us that way!  But as some context for your reading pleasure - my dad was an oral surgeon and this woman was his dental assistant...how cliche is that??  So, cheers to my new step-mom!

  • @shafwilson, yes I have a surprise step-mother as well. I decided today to unfriend them both on facebook. I have already been blocking them from viewing my posts for weeks anyway. I just feel like if I give them any information about me, they can get what they want and circumvent dealing with our issues altogether. I'm cutting him off altogether until I get an apology from him. On one of my particularly bad IF days, I was almost in tears because I honestly don't feel like I'm going to include him in our family when the time comes.

  • @BunnyBerry‌ ...ummm...did I just read you woke up with a spider in your nose!?!?!?!?!? Holy. Effin. Freak out.

@Tiko99‌ Been there, done that! And I agree with PP's about the crate training. Once my dogs were trained, they LOVED their crates. Good luck!

WTF.... to my union brothers/sisters. I've never seen such whine asses in my entire life. Everyone hates each other and totally act like children. It's so pathetic and embarrassing.

::: 3T November Siggy Challenge: Animals Being Jerks:::
  • @theholmanherd, if you ever want to vent/talk about father issues, hit me up!!  Mine's a big D-bag who I have not spoken to in 9 years now!!

@Tikko99, my rescue liked to pee in the house a lot.  We've had her for two years now, and finally, we have had no accidents in the house for at least 6 months.  (i've probably jinxed myself).  If Chilli is still peeing after going outside, I would wonder if it isn't a UTI?  Had a foster before who peed tons, and it was a UTI.  Easy to test (urine) and just pills to treat.  Good luck!!

My WTF goes to my job.   I'm sooo tired of working 6  days a week, and the chance came up to go 5 days.  Well, it's not gonna work out, and my union is crap(useless).  Ugh!!

And WTF DH, his Momma always comes first.  Him and FIL are going to take time off of their jobs to talk to her Dr about her going out on disability.  She won't because she wants to continue to work.  Even if it puts her in a wheelchair!  DH is going because he thinks FIL is not assertive enough.  I was made to feel like I was putting him out asking him to come to RE appointments, but his Mom is being a pain and......well......

I was wondering if it might be a UTI! She pees on our walks, then I find pee in the house somewhere......her teeth are a mess so she needs a dental anyway. FX for a UTI.

On another note a kitten I rescued last year was peeing in my bed and I thought it was a UTI and took him in for a test and the test came back slightly elevated so they gave me meds....he continued peeing in the bed and we found out it was do to extreme stress! I bought FeliWay and he finally chilled out and stopped peeing. After having to clean up CAT pee in my bed for months dog pee doesn't seem so bad LOL :)

@Tikko99 When I was potty training one of our dogs, we were in an apartment. We went to PetSmart and bought a bell that was inside of a plastic ball. It was in the bird toy section. We hung this on the doorknob and every time we took him out to go potty, we rang the bell. He started to hit the bell when he needed to go outside, which alleviated us guessing when he needed to go.
Now we live in a rental house with a sliding glass door. The handle doesn't allow us to hang anything on it, but he still will go over and stand on his back legs and bat at the handle. If we ignore him, he will give out a little yip or a little growl to tell us he needs to be let out. It only took a little bit, just a few days or so, to get him used to hitting the bell.

OMG what a great idea!!! I'm totally going to get a bell this week and try it out! Thanks!

@theholmanherd‌ Our house backs up to an alvacado farm and a mountain, so we had the same spider issue. After finding the 5th black widow in our house about two weeks into living there we decided to pay a company to spray around our house. I haven't seen any spiders or ants, for that matter, since the first spray. Totally worth it for the peace of mind.

@lemonliz‌ I would freak out about that too. I am very selective about who I tell my news to, let alone to have somebody else who probably didn't even explain it the correct way spread that personal news.

  • @murrt wow, that's awful!  I'm ticked off as it is at the age of 31.  I can't imagine being a kid and dealing with that sort of BS from my father.

Part of what caught me off guard about the whole thing is that in spit of him being a crappy husband, my dad was actually a good father to my brothers and I.  We've always been pretty close.  So, for him to just run off like that without a word totally blindsided me.

What is it about fathers that makes them act so horribly when it comes to the important stuff.
