The last few days I have a gross metal tase in my mouth. Ick!!! Has anyone else experienced this. I'm thinking it might be from my pre-natal vitamins. Should I switch brands?
It's a fairly common symptom in early pregnancy. It's called dysgeusia. It's not likely from your PNVs. Drinking water does help, but there's not much else you can do. I've had it off and on for a few weeks now.
^ This. I've been having this symptom for weeks now. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to mask it with chewing gum several times a day. A minty flavor usually works best for me. Sweet things/fruits tend to make it worse (at least for me).
Not likely if she's been taking her PNVs. Also, this is a common symptom. Let's not go guessing, mmkay? If you don't have a good answer, it's not nice to raise OP's fears by guessing.
Just because someone takes a prenatal vitamin doesn't exclude them from vitamin b 12 deficiency. Yes it can be other things as well, pregnancy symptoms, but some people do not eat as well during pregnancy and can have vitamin deficiencies if they have hyperemesis. I work in internal medicine as a nurse practitioner, it is not a guess, cannot be confirmed until there is blood testing. How do you think MD/NP/PA's diagnose people? You have many diagnoses before you find the right one. Medicine is not cut and dry. If it persists, it is something to rule out. Mmmmkay?
Sometimes vinegar helps, for example pickles. It's only a short term relief though. It doesn't go away completely with pickles; it tasks a few days like others said. Dysguesia is one of the worst symptoms I've had so far- very annoying and feels like it will never end. Hang in there!
I'm pretty sure the gross taste in my mouth is at least partially to blame for my nausea since I feel better when eating anything. Nothing seems to quell it for very long. I've heard it gets better in second trimester.
I had it shortly after I found out I was pregnant and it stopped at around 8 weeks. It has come back after reading this post... Grrr! It is awful and makes me more nauseous than I already am. I carry mouthwash with me because of it.

I have it REALLY BAD!!!! I can't even drink water! i had it bad like this with my twins too....for me it didn't go away until after I gave birth I brush ever chance i get, I have gum and cany and fruits to sank on to keep the sate out as much as i can. I'm sorry you have to go thru this too...ugh its so annoying
Try banishing that metallic taste with acids. Focus on sour flavors such as citrus juices, lemonade, and — assuming your tummy can handle them — foods marinated in vinegar (pickles anyone? After all, you are pregnant). All these foods not only have the power to break through the metallic taste in your mouth during pregnancy, they also increase saliva production, which will help wash it away. You might also talk to your practitioner about changing your prenatal vitamin; some seem to lead to metal mouth more than others.
Another trick: Try brushing your tongue each time you brush your teeth, or rinse your mouth with a mild salt solution (a teaspoon of salt in eight ounces of water) or a baking soda solution (1/4 teaspoon baking soda in eight ounces of water) a few times a day to neutralize pH levels in your mouth and keep away that flinty flavor.
I found sour patch kids work as a quick solution for me.

Fairly common pregnancy symptom, nothing to worry about. I started getting a sour/metallic taste in mouth around 5 weeks and at 13 wks & 1 day, it's still going strong. Try chewing gum, it can definitely help mask the taste.
