Went to visit my parents this weekend, and referenced it as going 'home'. DH was hurt that my childhood home is 'home' more than our place. What's home to you?

But I think your DH is being silly. There is nothing wrong with saying you are going home to see your family. The place you grew up will always feel like home, even if you no longer live there. That doesn't take away from how you feel about your new home.

ETA: my parents also sold our childhood home when my bro and I went to college, so coming "home" was never the same.
