I am in a territory I have no experience in. So I need some help.
My daughter is close to a year old. Like in 2 days she will be 1. At 10 1/2 months I completely dried up. She refused formula and we opted to put her on goats milk after 24 hours. She was eating pureed food. Yes, the Pedi knew. The decision was to move her to cows milk 2 weeks ago. Fine. Except she apparently has a cows milk intolerance. Not the first time I have seen that. #2 had it, so I recognized it. Not an issue. Back to goats milk and things were back to normal. Expensive (we are talking $20 a week for goats milk for one kid) but normal.
Last week when I went shopping there was no goats milk. I had only a quart left. Soy milk mixed with goats milk turned into runs and a fussy baby not to long after drinking it, We then tried coconut milk (still can't locate goats milk) but she has had normal colored poop, but she has the runs still after 3 days. Is her belly just not ready for coconut milk? My pedi is of little help here. I think he is grasping at straws. I know a dietitian/nutritionist will know more. I have a child with eating issues and she was a LOT more help than the pedi.
Thoughts? I know, you are not doctors or specialists. At the same time, I also know that moms sometimes have more of a clue than their doctors on some things. Allergies and intolerance are one of them, especially when you have a kid with that issue.
Later today she will be back on goats milk. There is some in a town 30 minutes down the highway. So I am going to stock up a bit and later this week we have an appt at a kinda local place who has goats. If that goes well, we will be joining the milk share. So no more worries on why my store may randomly not have the milk I need. And it is cheaper. lol Not seeing the issue though. The insurance company that my dad works for insures the place. So I know they pass inspection without issues, no violations, and so on.
I am just curious about the coconut milk though.

Re: Issues with different types of milk
A lot of kids do well on hemp, though, mine seems to be the exception.
We have finally settled on Rice Milk and a medical formula for kids with allergies called Ultracare. It is expensive but tastes good. The other thing is that you only need one scoop to make eight ounces so it lasts a while. You could also do Rice Milk (unsweetened and enriched with supplements) but you have to make sure to serve extra protein (eggs, meat,) and good fats (olive oil and avocado.), since Rice Milk has very little protein or fat which the LOs need.
I feel bad not knowing about coconut milk. :-( At least I know now and she is on goats milk again.
Thanks Ladies!

I am willing to pay for the goats milk. It actually gave me a good excuse for SO to get the milk share I wanted anyway. I am out that way once a week for our CSA box. So another 15 minutes down the road from that won't be to bad.
