I just got a text from a friend who is in the December bump group. I guess they're chatting it up about drinking Red raspberry leaf prior to labor - that it helps? Anyone here have experience with this?
I've had a few cups of Traditional Medicinals RRL tea and noticed that my BH contractions got worse when i drank it and i had some sharp cramps. Freaked me out o_o i'm hoping it was just my uterus saying "time to practice laborrrrr." Most peeps have positive experiences, my body just hates me
I drank it near the end of my first two pregnancies and had fairly easy, quick labors. But I've never not drunk it, so I have no idea if it helped, haha.
I tried drinking it at the end of my last pregnancy and it did nothing for me. I have heard that you need to make it really strong (like 3 tea bags in a cup) and drink it multiple times in a day which I didn't do.
I drank a lot of it with DS (and will with this one too). I'm a tea drinker so I didn't find it that bad, but it definitely tastes a lot better if you add a little sugar/honey/whatever you sweeten things with.

This!!! I had a cup one night before bed and woke up with really bad cramps. I'm not sure if it was because of the tea or not but I haven't tried to drink it again since.
I started the thread @slaps posted. I've been drinking it here and there, sometimes three cups a day, since 25/26 weeks. I also drank it during the last half of three other pregnancies. I tend to brew very large and strong batches during the last month, from about 37 weeks.

I def thought it was a fluke, but i had a cup tonight that caused horrible BH contractions and a headache! So glad i'm not the only one! Idk if it's our lady bits prepping for labor times or what but jeez.
I drink the organic Pregnancy Tea by Traditional Medicinals, which is a blend of different leaf teas but mostly contains raspberry leaf. I've been brewing about 8 oz. daily since the start of 3rd trimester, but plan to bump it up when I reach 36 weeks (next week). I can't say yet if it will help with labor, but it won't hurt.
Yes, this has been common practice for decades. I drink Earth Mama Organic at Babies R Us and Target, it tastes just fine, and I drink two mugs per day. It's called Third Trimester Organic Tea from them and works really well for me. Good luck!
Since someone else ressurected this thread, I will add that I tried out the Yogi Mother to Be tea last night and I thought it was yummy. Going to try the red raspberry one now!

I actually just started drinking red raspeberry leaf tea yesterday- at the start of 35 weeks. I have had 3 cups today and it's okay. I'm not adding anything to sweeten it as I don't need the extra calories, but I don't mind it. I'm going to try to drink at least 3 cups per day while I'm at work. The instructions do say it has to steep for 10-15 minutes though FYI.
We'll see if it makes a difference- I wouldn't really know either way!
I drank it throughout 2nd & 3rd trimester last time and had an easy L&D, but who knows if the tea had anything to do with it! I just started again this time. I bought it in bulk online and I aim to have several strong cups per day.

@silverwings72 they do make it in capsule form. I have been taking some since last Wednesday. The bottle I have says you should take 2 a day. I can only stomach one.
midwife and doula recommended it for natural birthing. ordered a bunch of "pregnancy tea" medicinals brand?? of of amazon and have been chugging 2 cups a day. figured it cant hurt trying

Never had it, but I ordered some....no idea if I will like it or not. I can't find it in any stores around me, so I ordered some from amazon.
I like tea....but if it sucks too bad, it will get tossed out.
