Nap time help!

my daughter is 6.5 months (will be 7 months October 5th) and she will only nap in her Tula or if she's nursing to sleep with me laying down next to her. 9 times out of the 10 if I get up and let her lay by herself she wakes up and cries until she's sucking on me again. She's never taken a pacifier. Any advice on ways to transition her to being able to sleep in a crib during the day? She isn't STTN yet but when she does I would like to try transitioning her from our bed to her crib at night as well. We always have to put her to sleep by either rocking or nursing and my husband is worried those habits will be hard to break. I can't and won't let her CIO. It breaks my heart.

Re: Nap time help!

  • Those habits ARE hard to break! I'm not a CIO advocate either, but I think to break habits like that, there will be tears involved. It doesn't have to be full on CIO. We've been trying a number of things with our twins (extending night feedings rather than bedtime struggles, but similar). I have DH try to soothe 1st. If they are inconsolable, I nurse. We've gone from 2-3+ hrs for our 1st nite feed... It's def slow going. Hang in there!

  • I put my just worn tank top over my breast friend pillow and slid it next to DD while I was sneaking out. The warmth and smell of me was enough to keep her zoned out. The breast friend/boppy is firm enough not to smother baby

She napped in our bed with bed rails until she could walk. Then we transitioned her to a twin mattress on the floor in her big girl room.
