Potty Training

what to do when child does not have yucky feeling in wet/dirty pants

I'm a month into training my 3 yr old girl and she does not seem to feel yucky when she pees in or poops in her panties.  She will sometimes tell me she has to go after she has dribbled in (enough to have to need new panties) but won't say anything sometimes after a full blown puddle or full poop.  My mom and husband thought that she would have the yuck feeling in panties and it would speed up potty training but that backfired big time.  I know potty training takes a while but there are days when I'm tired of cleaning panties and my floor.

Re: what to do when child does not have yucky feeling in wet/dirty pants

  • I'm having this issue too with DS and I'd love suggestions. He's 3 years and 1 month old. I started potty training about 6 weeks ago. He has #1 down but won't ever tell me he has to go #2. When he goes in his underwear he won't tell me. He's happy to just sit in the soiled underwear. I've tried almost everything. The pedi's advice was pretty much to just hang in there. Help!!!
