Nursing a toddler and pregnant

Hi moms,

Ds is 18 months and I just found out I am expecting #2! I am between 4-5 weeks along and my milk supply is already tanking. Ds has mspi and we have not done much experimenting with alternative milks yet. I do have a little freezer stash to hold me over in case he starts getting frustrated. Any advice? I am trying to go with the flow, can't help but worry ds will wean because there won't be anything left for him.

Thanks!!

Re: Nursing a toddler and pregnant

  • Similar situation.  I am 13 weeks pregnant.  My supply started tanking right away. DD#2 now 17 months was nursing 7 times per day.  In only a few weeks we are down to just nursing in the morning, and even that is probably a few sips before it is gone.  DD#2 has milk, peanut, kiwi allergy. In the few weeks since my supply tanked she has upped her food and water intake on her own. I offer milk alternative but she only drinks about 2 oz per day.  My only concern is that she doesn't get enough calcium, which i'm trying to pay more attention to and get more in.
